So what do all these phrases we use mean and where do they come from?

Sweating Bullets.
Shit faced.
Legless (meaning drunk - really drunk. I believe it was a gentlemen from Scotland who introduced me to that term).
Tossing ones cookies.
Tit for Tat (who's Tat and why is it for him?).
Doing a Land Office Business (I know where that one comes from but it's from my parents' time and I don't know if anyone uses it any more).
Between a Rock and a Hard Place. Did you hear about the horny rock climber? He was between a rock and a hard on. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck.
From Pillar to Post.
Making Money Hand over Fist.
Doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground (or alternately a hole in the wall).
fighting tooth and nail.
He doesn't know Jack. Or his twin Jack Shit.
He doesn't know shit from shinola.

I know there's more that I'm forgetting.
Anyone know some good ones and / or their origins?
