Anything can Happen in New Jersey
"Anything can Happen in New Jersey". That's a line from a movie I watched this evening (pictured). Today I also heard a recording of comedian at a NJ comedy club near my home. It was interesting hearing the comedian actually describe the hotel the club is in. The Movie IQ was filmed in Princeton near where I live. I saw Walter Matthau in the town while they were filming; right outside a restaurant I just ate at a few weeks ago. Of course the Soprano's takes place in NJ. And the series ED was filmed in a bowling alley in NJ.

These are but a few examples of things that involve NJ. Its kewl to see and hear things about places you know. Especially your home state or town. But also places you've been. Every time I see a movie of downtown Chicago it's nice to remember when I was there.
NJ does seem to get featured a lot.

How about your town, a town near by or your state? Do you see it in the media?

Do you get a special feeling seeing some place you've been in film? A street you walked on or a bridge you walked across like the one they show in downtown Chicago?
Tell me some stories.

 The first time I saw the "Purple Rose of Cairo", I was thrilled that it was shot at the Carnegie Deli [image], where I had eaten just a couple years before. "Rainman" had quite a few scenes shot in Cincinnati, and it's cool to see some of our "instititions" on screen. The famous "toothpick" scene was shot in a little Italian restaurant here that has been around for years.

Loved Rainman. Didn't know where it was filmed. Must have been cool to see the restaurant in the film.

OK, so how do you know of Kevin Smith and I don't? From RedBank NJ I see. James Gandofini who is in Sopranos went to Rutgers (The state university of NJ).

 The television show "The Office" ( I think that is the name) supposedly takes place in Scranton PA,( born raised and still live) and there are frequent references to various places, even the building where it supposedly takes place is a real office building. There have also been many references in past shows too numerous to list. Movies have been made here as well and we have had a few local people make it big in film and TV. I grew up knowing of Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City) he is younger than me but I knew one of his sisters, and Jason Miller(the late actor/playwright was also born and raised here.

And of course we also have some sportstars that were from this area,
but I can't think of their names right now. College basketball player and pro football players as well from the Wilkes Barre area..

So we do have something other than the coal mining history to brag about...

Very cool. It's interesting when you have a RL brush with celebrity in a non celebrity fashion. Makes you remember they are real people.
