I see the tear
that slowly forms in your eye
as it works its way
from the loneliness in your heart.
Yet, as I try to kiss it away
you turn away from me
as though my lips were
adorned with colored acid
that would cause you pain.
I see the slump
of your shoulders
as the weight of your sorrows
crushes them down.
Yet as I try to embrace you
you turn from my arms
as though they sought to bind you.
I hear the cry
from your lips
as it gives voice to the
sad soul that torments you.
Yet as I try to sooth
that pain that tears at you so,
your ears are as deaf to me
as though I was the cacophony
of all that hurts you so.
And I see myself
in my futility to help you
and I know, once more,
how helpless I am when you
will never love me
as I do you.

Lenny I know that this is borne from personal pain and my heart goes out to a friend and fellow traveller, but you have written such a powerful poem with so much feeling woven in the words I cannot help but be moved by it.

And then the reality encapsulated in the powerful words re-emerges ans I see your hurt and helplessness and hope against hope that in some way it will resolve.
