Martin Luther King Jr. Day...Remembering

I spent most of this day reflecting on Freedom, especially on the concept of Choices and Free Will. I also spent time recalling a quest for knowledge trip that I took to Tennessee, in November, 2000.It was a hard time for me as my father had passed away 2 weeks before he was to attend my youngest brother's wedding in Memphis.My father was going to be my brother's best man. We agreed not to cancel the wedding as my dad would have wanted no interruptions.
While in Memphis, I did not know that I would come so close to the place where MLK was killed..and even visit the Hotel where he was killed. It is now a museum. Choking back emotions,due to the recent events that had happened back then, I summoned up enough courage to go to the hotel and SEE..the place where MLK's life had ended. It was sacred ground for me. It was a place where I went to obtain the strength I needed to MOVE forward..to continue with the ongoing struggle of judgment..to not be judged by the color of one's skin..but by the content of one's character and development. How one is perceived in life by their actions,deeds and words..As I reflect back, I am proud of what MLK did. Daily, I gather my strength and know that I am supporting his legacy towards change in world view.{Oh, I also saw Elvis' mansion..what a rank smelling place..?? but that's another story}
CHOICES: As I watched the GOLDEN GLOBES,I freely questioned Drew Barrymore's selection of dress and wondered why her breasts fell to her elbows in it. {I hope mine don't, but dayum} Drew,who assisted you in that choice?Please don't blame MLK day. Peace.
