Meteor Showers the night of 8/12

Kinda bummed this year. The Perseids will be dimmed because the moon is in its waning phase adding to the light pollution. It's bad enough living in Houston - I have to drive at least an hour (plus) out of town in the middle of the night in order to watch them. When I've parked on the side of the road, I crossed my fingers that the latest serial killer wasn't lurking in the field next to me. However, this year, if I actually make it out tomorrow night, I'm taking my 90lb dog for protection. But it's a school night and if there are any clouds, forget it. But if you are in an area where it is light free and cloud free, look up and make a wish for me. I take that back. Make a wish for someone who needs something.

Well at this hour, and with this insomnia, I should go and do something productive, like organize my closet and work on world peace. Sweet dreams all.

Mercury, Saturn, Venus and the Moon will all four be in conjunction at sunset on the 21st. Unfortunately the Sun will prevent their being observed. I will not be getting any cooleehopper.

Maxx, thanks for the heads up. Now that I know, I think I'll find something small to sacrifice.
