Physical activity and lifestyle

I was thinking about getting and staying in shape. Our health care system has had dramatic shift on what sort of illnesses are being treated. Twenty years ago most of medical care was for acute issues. Today, the vast majority of our care is for chronic issues. Many of the chronic care issues are caused by not taking care of ourselves in a personally responsible manner. (Did I tell you that I’m a nut on being personally responsible for our actions?)

So, I thought I would share some of my ideas on what staying in shape does for us. Let me know what other benefits there are from staying in shape.

1. Allows us to live a full and happy life with extra energy.
2. Looking at ourselves in a mirror is a pleasant experience.
3. We feel good about how others view us.
4. Our stamina level is higher for having multiple orgasms in one day.
5. We can participate in sports for a longer period in our life.
6. We can do physical activities at a higher level than if we don’t stay in shape.
7. We can enjoy our physical life more because we have more energy to do so.

This post is not meant as a slam on those who are over weight. I’m not making any political statement about weight, so please don’t misinterpret this post as such. I just think that we should all take more responsibility for our own health and take actions that allows to enjoy life more fully.

so here's what i would propose:

a group that meets on a fairly regular basis (once a week, twice a month, something like that) to walk, run, hike or swim in the summer, ski or snowshoe in the would be a great way for people to get active and meet others with similar lifestyle interests! not to mention, the cost-saving for our nation's healthcare down the road!
