I was thinking about the situation in the world today and ran across something that reminded me of a John Denver song, It's about Time.

I first heard this song in 1983. It's as powerful today as it was then. It would be wonderful if our world leaders read these Lyrics and actually paid attention to them. I hope it makes an impact on you. It did and does on me.

There's a full moon over india and gandhi lives again
Who's to say you have to lose for someone else to win
In the eyes of all the people the look is much the same
For the first is just the last one when you play a deadly game

It's about time we realize it we're all in this together
It's about time we find out it's all of us or none
It's about time we recognize it these changes in the weather
It's about time, it's about changes and it's about time

There's a light in the vatican window for all the world to see
And a voice cries in the wilderness and sometimes he speaks for me
I suppose i love him most of all when he kneels to kiss the land
With his lips upon our mother's breast he makes his strongest stand

It's about time we start to see it the earth is our only home
It's about time we start to face it we can't make it here all alone
It's about time we start to listen to the voices in the wind
It's about time, it's about changes and it's about time

There's a man who is my brother, i just don't know his name
But i know his home and family because i know we feel the same
And it hurts me when he's hungry and when his children cry
I too am a father and that little one is mine

It's about time we begin to turn the world around
It's about time we start to make it the dream we've always known
It's about time we start to live the family of man
It's about time, it's about changes and it's about time
It's about peace and it's about plenty and it's about time
It's about you and me together and it's about time

John Denver 1980

As always let me know what you think. Do the Lyrics make an impact on you?

Wow...yes I have to agree, they mean (the lyrics) as much today as they did then...If it was only as easy as showing the world and religious leaders these lyrics...that we and all the people of the world live in peace....
Not only that but everyone else to know that we are (whether we like it or not) are all connected...what happens to one happens to us is true...and if we could feel that ...I believe things would change drastically

That song describes how I feel about it exactly. Thank you.

Yup...this juiciness is from me....

I admit it. I love John Denver's songs. Yes. His lyrics have an impact on me. Wish he was still here.

I think this is one of John Denvers three best songs. Thanks so much for stopping by.

written 26 years ago

and still it resonates - i'm not sure if that pleases me or makes me nigh onto suicidal.

i wonder - what would happen if the democratic party ran a peacenik?
would all of us vote for him/her? could we finally become the country that speaks for reason and diplomacy and peace?

would it ever be possible?

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

The last time they tried it he got crucified - Eugene Mc Carthy. I first head this song at a human potential seminar in 1983. It spoke to me about what we can be, it still does. The actual song is haunting and brings tears to my eyes every time I listen.
