Plunder and Purge

Well...my weekend should prove to be interesting ..to say the least. I feel like I am standing above an abyss and as fearful as that may seem...(dreadful fear of heights) ...it is something that needs to be done and I also know the benefits of said endeavor. And yet ...I hesitate...Why?

Change is never easy, and having to look at things in a different more harsh light is an experience and a challenge. To strip things down to a bare minimum and re-examine their usefulness and necessity in ones life.
But it is difficult to make those choices and to make the decisions necessary to complete this purging of your 'comfortable' surroundings.

Unwilling to be dragged ...kicking and screaming into this void, you put on the brave face and calm the fears as best you can and press forward. Knowing it is good for you....knowing it will rid your mind and soul of excess baggae that is long overdue...and yet, ...you try to hold on to the past.

What makes this so difficult? Is it the fear of the unknown? The being mired so fully in the past, that you are not willing to let go? Is the newness and possible "idle hands" feeling afterwards, that holds you back from moving on?

Possibly ....but sometimes one is so entrenched in the "stuck" mentality that it is hard to see your way clear. Not wanting to do something different, because you are so used to the "norm" of the everyday. Change is good....yet too much change and too often...well that just seems to be bordering on some neurosis of some sort.

Why is it some peoples mission in life is to make others change so drastically? Why does it bother them to see some people "unmoving and unchanging"?
They feel the need to urge others onward...they get obsessed with pushing and dragging others to this abyss...and yet to look at these people ...one can see "chinks" in their armour. And yet they go out of their way to prod others into making some change to their existence.

Hmm...makes you wonder what it is about changing another that drives them...what is it, that they get from it...what is their "real" motivation.

Change is good...so they say...but how far and how willing are you....to go along with it?

I don't think of change as such. I like progress. I don't like staying in one place of my life for too long. No matter how fast or slow I'm progressing, as long as my life is improving, I'm fine with "change". No one's perfect, so that always leaves room for improvement somewhere.

WOW do I know the feeling on that one. It would be cool of people would just jump on their own and not drag others down with them. Later JD

Well, where the possible change might be positive, obvious, and long overdue, then it is right to change. Usually, it is the fear of the unknown that holds one back. So it is having the courage to face those fears, that is a strong indication of good character.
As for those who might desire that you do change in such a way, I would say to hold that person most dear. He or she must care about you, or that person would have no interest in seeing you improve your life.
My, yet another in your series a excellent posts, shy. *smiling warmly* Thank you.

But SirMounts...what if one has a good character and still fears change, ...can one not slowly change...or is that a sign of weakness?

Thank you for visiting SirMounts...and your welcome...I am glad that you think that my posts are interesting...as yours are as well *smiles*
