What a Morning I've Had

I've only been up two hours and 15 minutes, you understand, but I'm desperate to go back to bed already because of the morning I've had.

First, I take my nephew to school only to see a cop sitting on the side of the road waiting to catch those Idiots that insist on speeding through the school zone. Why is this a big deal? Well, my car lacks a current inspection, that's why. Why? Because my right signal light won't work!! So, anyway, I'm not worried about getting into the school and him dropped off because the cop is sitting with his ass-end towards me and I know that he wouldn't be able to see all the way over to my stickers. The problem comes when it's time to go home...I would have to drive in front of him as I pass him. More than likely it would be obvious that it's bad because in 2005 TX only had the big numbers in the middle of the sticker...in 2006 they added a big red, white & blue Lone Star flag in the middle of it. So, even if you can't see exactly what month is punched out on the sticker from far away, you can tell that the flag isn't there. "No problem", I think, "I'll just go outside of the neighborhood and come in the other entrance." A little back-tracking but no biggie. Well, I am driving down the road to take to get him when I realize there is lights flashing ahead and that there is a cop directing traffic at this particular 4-way stop intersection because of construction. So, I stop WWWWAAAAAYYYYYY far away from him (which he was fine with) but I panic and turn around. You see, I'm not wearing a bra, I don't have my purse, my 4-year-old is BUCKLED in the front seat next to me but not in the back in a car seat like he's supposed to be, and I knew there was no getting around him. So, I do a U-turn. (He didn't approve, I could tell.) Thankfully, he didn't come after me. So I head back into the neighborhood. In the meantime, my car is growing steadily hotter. Oh, I didn't mention that part? Well, you see, there is something wrong with my car and if left running too long, it gets really, really HOT!!! It never has gotten to the point of steam coming out of the radiator and all of that but it gets really, really HOT. So, I pull back into the parking lot of the school and proceed to sit there for 20 minutes while I out-wait the cop and let the car cool down.

Okay, I finally make it home and all is well.

Until I go to pour myself a cup of coffee that I had made while I was gone. It's a nice mixture of coffee and coffee grinds. Yuck!! Now, I had enough coffee to make myself some for tomorrow and that was it. So, in the interest of salvaging the coffee, I put in another filter and tried to "filter" out the grinds. Which actually worked but the coffee, after being doctored up with lots of milk and International Delight, still managed to taste like shit. By now, I am absolutely craving my coffee...I hadn't had any yesterday and I really wanted some today. So, I went ahead and used tomorrow's coffee for today.

While my coffee is brewing, I make myself a scrambled egg. Guess what? They turned out to be entirely too salty.

Now do you see why I just want to crawl back in the bed and pull the covers over my head?!

Before I go, I should clarify that the school is INSIDE of my neighborhood and it is literally less than a mile away either way. I don't want to come off as an irresponsible parent by posting this. An irresponsible automobile owner, maybe, but I am not an irresponsible parent!!!

You've broken several laws and a multitude of Commandments. You've been a very, very bad girl, and those nasty Texas cops are soon gonna have you in cuffs.

Hmmm, strike that, you'd probably enjoy it far too much!

Get that car looked at!

Ah, Its you again, Your Angel Feathers and your Blood Stains...

I AM!!! Getting the car looked at, that is. Fri. afternoon my sister will follow me a place near here and we will leave the piece of shit behind for them to figure out what is wrong with it.

As for the cops handcuffing me... well, I can't afford for that to happen so even though you think I would enjoy it... I still would like to avoid it at all costs. Which is why, tomorrow, I am going to WALK the kid to school so I don't have to go through another morning like I had today.
