RIGHT NOW is the Perfect Time

We are fast approaching the time of year where we honor and pay tribute to the mother's in our life. Whether they're your own mother, a sister, or a dear friend, it's always important to take this opportunity to thank them, tell them they're doing a good job, or that you're proud of them.

Having said that, this time of year is the time for me to start prowling around for the perfect mother's day gift...for myself. After all, there's no one else in my life to get me something. Usually, I pour through the pages of a James Avery catalog for the perfect, meaningful charm or ring or whatever it is that looks good to me. And, I admit, I even prowled web pages yesterday looking for the perfect bead for my Pandora bracelet.

Then, last night, I watched a program that was recorded from last week about the children of this world who are starving, uneducated, unsafe, sick, and alone.

I can't do what I want to do... which is take every one of them home with me but I can support causes that will help them get food, shelter, education, and medical treatment.

So, this year, I have decided that for my Mother's Day present to myself I am going to donate what money I would have used to buy myself another piece of silver jewelry and give it to the following organizations:

Women for Women International
Invisible Children

Then, I'm going to write my government representatives and the President of the United States and let them know that these kinds of crimes against children, their homes, and their families can absolutely not be tolerated anymore!

Will I make a difference? I don't know. All I know is that I can no longer not do anything and turn a blind eye to it. Pretending it doesn't exist, doesn't make the problem go away. If anything, it will only make it worse. Can we afford not to care about the children of this world? They're CHILDREN. They're young and helpless and need others to take care of them.

Maybe by reading this, you will find it in yourself to give $2 or write the representatives of your state.

They need help! Wouldn't you want someone to help your child/children if they were in such dire straits? I know I would!!
