Back THERE In An Instant

I know there are some songs that just stick with you forever. I'm listening to one right now that immediately takes me back to the 16-year-old girl that I was pining away for one love, Chad E. Davis. God, I loved him completely in that school-girl way that we only do when we're in high school.

The song is Richard Marx's "Hold Onto the Nights" and I remember popping the tape in my headset and climbing onto the swings at the local park and swinging away for the duration of the album.

I wished for him. I wanted him. I ached for him. I think at that point we must have broken up but I didn't want it to be that way. I wanted him to change his mind. I wanted him to just show up. I'm not real clear on the details anymore. I just remember that he had some trouble at home, had moved out, and was just dealing with living. I suppose I was too much for him to deal with or something.

I lost track of him a couple of years out of high school. I visited him once in Watertown, NY when he was stationed there in the Army. After that, I never saw him again and shortly after that our communication stopped, too. Periodically, I will check through the 411 listings for him but I've never found him again. I always wonder what happened to him. What he's doing. What he looks like. If he's happy. Married. Does he ever wonder about me. Everything.

Is there a song that will get you going back in time?
Any ideas on how to track someone down when all you have is a name and a birthdate?

"Ribbon In The Sky" by Stevie Wonder ... theme song for the homecoming dance at Tosa East High School ... Patty and I slow danced to it creating a memory that will last forever ... I won't look her up, though, because I'm afraid the memory will be tainted if she now weighs 400 pounds or something (I know, I'm shallow ... )

Sluggo: You could be missing out on something great! Even if she is 400 pounds!! AFter all, are you still the 125# (or whatever) string bean you were in in H.S.?! Probably not.

Green Day - When I come around, when I was younger this was the song I used to walk when I went for some alone time to clear my thoughts!
