Thanks for the compliment, I think

So I was writing a message to a classmate on Facebook today (it's a college networking site) and I kinda told a fib. I told her she looked like someone that I thought I knew. Not true, the girl Colleen, in front of me was actually making a crack about her and so she was pointing her out. I ended up staring at her for a few minutes, and I think she got creeped out.

So moving on, I wrote her this message to apologize for the staring incident and I fibbed that the reason I had been staring was that she looked like someone else I knew. She said she got that a lot.

So I was wondering, that isn't a compliment, right? Saying that your face looks so much like someone else's that your identity was mistaken for someone else. That must mean you are pretty for lack of a better word, "generic." Maybe "forgettable" is what I was going for. Or perhaps that means that your face is so memorable that you remind me of someone near and dear to me.

Then again, maybe I am making a mountain out of a molehill.
