It got stuck!

I went to the frat house again last night. I went to go see my friend Sterling and we watched "Sphere" (based on a book by Michael Chrichton- the one who wrote Jurassic Park) and "Saw 2." Both movies were really good. According to Sterling seeing the first "Saw" makes you appreciate the second one more, but I didn't see the first one and I loved the second and it made sense to me. If you like horror movies I highly recommend it. I love being scared so even though I jumped a few times and covered my eyes at a few points, I still loved it. "Sphere" is a science-fiction movie with Dustin Hoffman, Queen Latifah, Sharon Stone, and Samuel L. Jackson. It's older (mid-90's) but still very relevant as far as the idea of aliens go. "Saw 2" had Beverly Mitchell in it. The chick from 7th Heaven.

I did have a really interesting experience today. Since my parents are out of town I am taking care of their 2 cats. The older one is diabetic and on a diet to boot, so I have to go over there 2x's a day and feed them, and give Gus his shots and whatnot. I was going up the elevator and I had almost reached my floor (the 4th). The elevator stopped in between floors. I hadn't hit anything besides my floor number so I was really confused, it had never done that to me before.

So there I am, stuck in b/w the 3rd and 4th floor in a 1923 elevator. It has one of those gates that goes across it and then it retracts once it has hit a marker on the floor level to open the door. I couldn't reach the hinge for the 4th floor. I was holding the elevator gate open with my foot (it's heavy too!) trying to reach the hinge for the 3rd floor. I could barely reach it from how the elevator was positioned.

I finally got it open and was holding the floor door open and tossing all my stuff outside the door onto the floor and then I jumped down. There was about 7 feet of open elevator shaft that I could've fallen into. The whole process took about 20-30 minutes to figure out. If I fell into the shaft by not jumping far enough, I would definately be in some pain.

Thank goodness I figured it out on my own cause I had left my cell phone in my apt. by accident so I could've been stuck there for a while. I think it (the elevator) is fine now. But now I know why some people are scared of elevators, especially like the one in my building. (It was the first one in all of Lakewood.)

One more thing. It happened a few days ago, but still worth noting. My cat knocked over the coffeepot and broke it. It costs just as much money to replace the pot as to get a whole new coffeemaker. (Why?) However, I have been dirinking coffee since I was 13, so me being without it is not a good idea, I'm really addicted. I was really hard to wake up in the morning so my parents started pouring it down my throat in about 8th grade. I drink it black. In my opinion, if you can't drink coffee black, you shouldn't drink it. (My parents and I do, my sister doesn't hardly ever drink it.) So needless to say, I was pretty upset when Moe broke it. So it had been about a week with no coffee. Not only did Greg pick up the Brita water filter (Cleveland water is just gross out of the tap), but I hadn't had any coffee in like a week. I was pretty crabby.

But hope there was! I don't know how many of you remember this, but my Mom used to be a GM of a resturaunt in Grand Rapids, MI years ago and then when she moved to Ohio, she started her own catering business. She has lots of stuff left over from those days: huge coffee toureens (sp?), platters, plastic silverware (we will never run out!), and the like. I decided to save myself and my classmates on Monday the hassle of dealing with a non-caffinated, bitchy Red. I snagged one of the 6 coffeemakers (a couple of them are ridiculously enormous though, they hold like 55 cups of coffee) from the house and a huge jug of Rocky River water for my house.

Now with the Sunday paper from my parents house, 2 handfuls of Daisys and Black-Eyed Susans from my Mom's garden, a huge jug of RR water, the coffeepot, and my purse, imagine me getting out of that damn elevator without breaking anything or scattering everything everywhere. It was tricky, but I managed it.

So here I am alive, in one piece, caffienated, and safely in my apartment. What a day (and it's only 5:15)!

P.S. Watching my pets dream has to be one of the most amusing activities ever. They look like they are having mini-epileptic seizures they twitch so fast and so hard. It's pretty funny.
