Do you think otherwise law abiding and responsible adults who use marijuana should be treated like common criminals?
No. I think the War on Drugs has failed. Prohibition is not helping things.
Yes arrest otherwise law abiding citizens who's only crime is to use a plant that is safer than caffeine.

Drug laws in general need to be changed. The truth behind our Drug laws is that law-makers want to control the way we think, not protect our health. If they wanted to protect our health they would outlaw Big Macs along with crack. Roughly 6,000 people per year die in this country from rcreational Drug-related complications, versus over 150,000 from prescription complications and 600,000 from smoking related illness. (Don't know the figures for obesity, but I'd bet they're even worse...) So the numbers don't square up with the amount of attention the Drug war ever got as a public health issue.

That being said, is selective enforcement of our laws a solution? It seem that just makes a mockery of the whole system, promotes abuse by law enforecment and eliminates the need for genuine reform. (obviously, I took myself out of the risk pool for getting busted a while back!) I'd rather see us change the laws and release the people who are pointlessly imprisoned.

i think they should legalise all drugs....not just marijuana. the problem is that everyone had access to drugs. i dont know about you but here in london anyone can get any drug within a day or two. so when drugs are so accesible why not charge tax on it and at the same time put the dealers out of business. i mean most of the drug money goes to fund terrorism and other crimes.

The war on drugs failed,
and we are still funding it!!!!!
This pisses me off, when it's illegal to smoke my medicine....marijuana has helped me live a less painfull life, I have fibromyalgia, and it's the only thing that has ever worked to control the pain enough to be able to do ordinary things like walk and dress.
Why can't the powers that be see how beneficial it is??? Pot has been used as medicine for the ages, since we humans first found it, growing by the entrance to our caves!!
Thanks for bringing this up...you are so lucky to live in Cali where it's de-criminalized! I can't wait to move back next year!
Your stoner bud,
