Wind whistles a familiar tune
I turn up the collar of my coat
Eyes to the sky watching
The migration at its end
The snow birds have settled in
Springs creatures now sleep
Autumn has relinquished her throne
As the evergreens stand defiant
The first snow of the season
Blowing down from the North
Like an Army set to lay siege
And soon all will be white
As nature covers the sins of man
In shame she relieves us from our filth
If only for the moment
Her brilliance un-denied
She sees us in black and white
Only to be dealt with as an inconvenience
To stand no more on the door step of springs youth
Well past the embarkation of summers voyage
Just past Autumn’s brilliance of life’s dying color
Winter waits to show us that there is dignity in death
Should we just allow the snow to fall
