Sarcasm: bitter or wounding repark, esp. one ironically worded; such remarks or the use or command of them.

Sometimes people don't get it.

Look at my previous post, for instance.

I received a comment from someone who thought I was serious!

I mean, for heavan's sake - I'm not THAT stupid!!

It's meant to be a sort-of 'Ali-G' style character offering advice that's clearly the opposite of what's right.

So I apologised to her (because that's the right thing to do if you upset someone) and stuck a warning note at the top.

But the whole point - and I really feel I shouldn't have to explain this here - is the very last line on the post.

Just read it. And think a little.

I know what you mean. And sometimes....when you are only reading words...and not seeing a face actually saying is hard to know when someone is being sarcastic or not. I thought it was a funny post....but then, the "warning" was at the top. lol

angelofmercy5 > at the time of my reply to Notbigs entry, the warning was not there and there was nothing funny about it. He could have added in a couple of lol's here and there and people would get the drift, but as you say, when people are typing, it is hard to see whether they are being serious or just fooling around. People need to think a bit more before they post some things so as to not cause offence.

Thanks for the email Notbig.
