A many-splendoured thing

Historically, if confronted with the 'L' word, it has been customary for the male to immediately exit the vicinity, rarely to return.

She says "I Love you."
He says goodbye.

Fear of commitment triggers the fight-or-flight mechanism.

But there has been a recent reverse in the trend.

Now it's women who run.

Say the word 'Love' to her and watch her go!!

It's partly because men use that as a way to get into her pants. But also, I think, women now want to 'play the field' as much as men do.

But there are many kinds of love.

Brotherly / Sisterly love.

Child-parent love.

The 'BIG L' commitment & marriage love.

The 'love ya baby' trying to get his dick in love.

And the deep friendship love.

So why is it, that when I offer my deep friendship love, she panics and runs? Is it because I respect her? or WON'T screw her? Or lie to her? Or try to 'own' her?

Puzzling. It would seem that women are now running away from the one thing they seek, only to jump into the arms of those they hate.

As much as I try, I don't think I'll ever understand this.

But then, I'm just a guy.
