Dirty Life and Times

Slowly, gently, night unfurls its splendour. Grasp it, sense it - tremulous and tender. Turn your face away from the garish light of day, turn your thoughts away from cold, unfeeling light - and listen to the music of the night!
Phantom of the Opera

A first post. Like the Phantom, night has become my sanctuary..away from the duties that the daylight brings. Time to ponder, time to write, time to wander through this strange and wonderfully perverse internet..
I have to give credit for the "title" of my blog to the late, amazing, Warren Zevon. Lifted the title of one of the songs on his last recording..If you've never listened to it, give it a try..an all-star recording..but Zevon shines through..although its eerie to hear a dying man sing Dylan's Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Heaven's Door..
Music will probably dominate some entries..music is the constant in my life...with very few exceptions, my musical taste arrested sometime around 1972..some exceptions..but few..but that's for another time.
As will probably come through as this blog moves along, I have a strange, dark sense of humor..colored by cynicism and irreverence..longing and loss..faith lost and found..(but not reborn)..
Enough of that..
Have so enjoyed reading other blogs..and occasionally commenting..and now I'm here in Blogland as a participant..should be an interesting ride..
Will leave you with the closing lines from one of my favorite songs:
When logic and proportion
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen says "off with her head!"
Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head.
Jefferson Airplane/White Rabbit

Noglory! This is wonderful! You are going to do great here...I'm so glad you finally came through that "Looking Glass"! I look forward to reading everything you have say...dark humor and all, although I'm interested into seeing how dark it gets. I have to warn you as you journey through this wonderland of blogville, beware of Cheshire cats and the tweedle dums and tweedle dees...just kidding, just thought it sounded good!

Next post please!
