The third wheel to do.....

One thing that has always been a great source of pride for me is when people come to me for advice. Call it what you will, but most of us would have to admit we feel good when someone comes up and says, "Hey, I need to run this by you."

As someone with a modicum of experience in the bdsm lifestyle, I was mystified, then flattered when submissives would come to me in private and ask for guidance. To be honest, a lot of them kept it on the level of friendship, pure and simple. Some of them, my lady and I have spoken with on the phone and are looking forward to meeting with this year. And yes, some Dominant men and women have privately chatted with me...but that's apples and oranges.

But some submissive women....well, let's just say it's gotten to a different level. Talk about an ego boost...imagine, if you will, some woman wants to talk intimately with YOU! One can't help but think, 'Damn, I'm good.'

Unfortunately, reality hauls off and bites you on the ass. Or at least it did in my case.

I found out, quite by accident, that a several of the uncollared subs had someone else for a mentor. I know...I know. Pride goeth before a fall.

But try to imagine it for a minute...a couple of people are constantly coming to you, asking for your advice, your consel. They make you feel that you mean something in their lives. Then....BOOM!!...they tell you that someone else is their advisor, their mentor...the One who tells them what to do, when to do it, and how to do it.

My response, at this time, is: "Why then, if you have somebody to turn too, are you bothering me? Wasting my time?"

I fear that I have become a bit of a recluse...keeping my thoughts to myself, not wanting to give private advice. Call it wounded pride, call it what you will. Right now, I really don't care: I had to put it down before I exploded.

So hence the third wheel reference, which we all have felt in our lives at one time or another. Why should a person put their ideas out for others to pick and choose, if that person isn't that important to people? My feeling is don't bother wasting my time...I'm sure there is someone out in the world who would value what advice I could give. Let those people have a chance...don't monopolize my time.

NG....going back to his cave on the mountain to contemplate on life, the universe, and everything.
