Spell Check

This is going to sound totally and completely superficial of me. After all, I miss a few words myself at times.

What do you think of a man in their 30's, 40's and 50's who can't spell!? I don't want to be shallow, because I was called that before and it stung a little. Yet, perhaps I am being that way and I truly know it.

I met a guy. Very hot looking. Spelling is atrocious. How can you NOT know how to spell NY? Seriously, he can't spell and spelled it New YOURK. "Engadgedment", there's more, but think these examples suffice. Ok. I am embarrassed for him. I feel badly for him, yet don't think it is fair for me to be so superficial- then again, am I? I am no longer interested in him because of this. Is this wrong? I was told not long ago to not be so judgemental, perhaps this is an example of that?

When someone shows interest in me, I like it when they take the time to actually spell out words into complete sentences and take the time with me to really explain themselves so I get a nice picture of who they are. Not only do I like it when they spell words out, I like it when they spell them correctly! To me, it feels sloppy. It feels... creepy, sort of a 'not caring' kind of attitude, not trying very hard to impress.

Perhaps I am a little old fashioned in someways. I would like to find a sexy hot man who is gorgeous and great in bed- but at the same time, someone who is intelligent, someone I can admire and respect. I like to put my men up on pedastals and worship them (especially the naked ones!) lol.

Tell me what you think. I am asking. Am I horrible. I guess, I just feel badly that I really can be attracted to someone and so repelled at the same time. What's up with that?
Maybe I am too picky. I feel like an educated man is a sexy man, spelling is a very fundamental skill... right?

Naughty, I feel your pain. As a journalism major in college, I too, became very particular about spelling and would use a dictionary or spell check if a word appeared 'misplaced' or 'erroneous.' Spelling has always come rather easily to me, to others, its extremely challenging and perhaps even intimidating. Some people (my father, especially), don't possess great spelling skills and assume their spelling is correct and feel they've put their best effort forward in their attempt to compose an appropriate sentence. But, as you mention, its a bit embarrassing when you read something with simplistic typos that the average Joe spells flawlessly. A polite 'your messages need spell-check' wouldn't be out of line, don't you agree?

That's why I use a dictionary and/or spell check and proof read my messages. Everyone makes a goof now and then, but to totally misspell something is another.

I hope you're not finding a lot of misspelled words in my emails. I've been checking for them.

I know what I want and I know what I like- I like a guy to take his time in bed as well as online to pay attention to all of the little details...

Don't you think I am worth it? I think it goes along with good manners, caring and making a good impression. If someone starts talking to me from the start and is just typing anything just to get it out there without thinking about it or caring for that matter, then I don't think he is going to care in other area's that are even more significant later down the road. I am at the point in my life where I no longer want to accept mediocre or "good enough".

I agree with comments such as our fast paced world and so forth, but... we should really try as a society to get back to putting effort and passion into all we do.

Ok <she steps off the soapbox> Good night!

By the way FunTimesInWin- I LOVED your comment. I love a man with a great sense of humor, witty and makes me laugh!

Well I must apologize then, I know that I have short cut a lot of my words just for times sake during our chats. But you are totally right. I've always told myself and others, that if something is worth doing, it's worth doing right. So please forgive me and I will put forth the extra effort for you. Because you are definately worth every detail.

Awe... that was very sweet JPK. I don't mind short talk in IM. It is totally understandable and not a problem for me at all. You are very sweet.

I don't think the "guy" who did this, reads blogs or much. It was none of the above who responded to this.

Thanks guys.

You are all good and for the record- I was totally busted for an error in my last blog- so I am way tooooooo human to. It is more the serious errors in spelling- ie. engadged, New YOURK, serius, etc. etc.

Thanks guys.
