Question for you.

As all know by now, I have been going through and cleaning out my house.

Doesn't it seem like you always need something and are always on your way to buy something? So how is it when you start really cleaning up, you find that you have so much stuff, you don't know where it came from or how you got it?

Are there anymore packrats out there besides me?

Just curious on my part...

Love & Hugs

I'm horrible about keeping things. My boyfriend is even worse though. We're moving this weekend and I swear it's going to be hell because we have so much crap

I know the feeling NG61 is a pack rat also. I do not think I'll ever get to the end of the mess.

Yes Ma'am... this one is guilty of 'squirreling' away all kinds of 'stuff'. Now, however... preparing for the move, I'm finding the same thing exists in my house. Maybe when you are finished in your house, you can come help me?????

*Smiles, kisses n hugz*

Sorry one is enough for me , but good luck. The one thing I found useful is do one room at a time.

Just curious on my part... Isn't that my line? lol

I come from a family of packrats and I am the one who packrats the least.Roflmao, now my dad was the worst. After he passed away 4 years ago, I went up into the attic at home because mom wanted to know what he had put up there over the years. here is just a small sample of what i found: 22 TV's all black and white, sit under hair dryer, my tricycle, my red wagon, scraps of carpeting, the outside metal shell of the swimming pool when i was 8 years old,(isn't that an antique now??several pairs of dad's old shoes. Christmas wrapping boxes, train sets,my walker from when I was a baby, all the toys from my other 2 brothers and I, box upon box of tv tubes. Several stereo cabinets.....Basically the whole entire attic is full. Need I say more?

NGs_lady replies on 6/29/2006 1:11 pm:
Befor you do anything maybe you should call someone that knows about antiques. You may have some things that is worth some real money.

Thank you for your comment

Omg I am so the same way. Every time I go to clean even I have the worst time throwing things away. Every time I go to clean I am like okay it is time to throw all the junk away I need to throw and that there is no sense keeping it all and then I like only throw away one bag. I am so upset with my self by the time I am done cleaning because I still have to much crap and not enough room. I mean why can't we just throw it and be done with it? It is not like we are going to miss it when its gone, because half the time we don't even know it is there to begin with right?

Good luck and have a great day!

I'm a papers and momentoes pack rat and my husband is a tools and gardening crap pack rat. I'll be glad when I get round to building a house so that I can have better closets. Bowling alley shaped victorians suck.

Yup...this juiciness is from me....

Evidently in the company of wickedeasy on this one -- anything I haven't used in 6 months gets found a new home or put on a mental list; in 12 months it is out of here if I still haven't used it. I have 3 smallish boxes in my personal bedroom closet {'stuff' from my early days, 'stuff' from Daddy and JM, and 'stuff' from my kids' earlier days}, that of course don't get put on that 'list'. I have 3 bookcases, filled to the brim, but I weed them out every once in a while, too. All my cassettes and vhs tapes and cds/dvds {including computer stuff} are labeled and have their own cases and storage areas. My craft 'stuff' have their own storage {there are about 3 rubbermaid bins}.

You are definitely on to something with the 1 room at a time. Even with cleaning that's the way to go -- but start with a different room each time or one room is NEVER going to get done! It's helpful to have clothes baskets or some type of temporary storage to place things in from rooms they don't belong in, as you move from room to room. Oh! And lock NG up somewhere while you're doing it? He sounds ohhhh so helpful in that area! {Tell him, please, that Adrian Monk is super sexy...almost as much as he is! } Like WickedEasy, I wish I could's very 'zen' for me to clean...and has nothing to do with actually meeting y'all...honest?

NGs_lady replies on 7/3/2006 8:58 am:
Thank you for your idea of the temporary storage a very good idea.

Mr.L is a packrat. At work, I'd say I have OCD....hate for things to be wrong. At home, don't give a shit. But, we do keep the house clean. Now that we are working towards buying a home, crap laying around the house has a much lower priority, unless it can be used to improve a home.
Go into my blog and rean The Light & The Night. Hope you like it. It is total fantasy....I am 100%str8. Had fun writing it.

We'll leave the light on for you.

I have no clue where it all comes from and the bad thing I can't blame a significant other since I ain't got one. I am in the process of going through things to move from one house to the new house and I don't know where it all came from. I mean I throw alot of things away so how is there still stuff left?

And I second the tuperware lids comment.....when someone figures that out can ya fill me in so I can find mine. I have a whole basket full of lids but no containers that they go to. I think the lids are in the same place the sock monster puts the socks outta the dryer.

I give up the clutter wins this round but I swear one day I will conquer it all.
