Fake Bloggers Exposed!

We've all seen them by now. The women who have the blogs where comments weren't welcomed, until the past few days. I didn't think much of them until saintlianna pointed out in her post [post 360431] how strange it is. That got me thinking and I started looking at them in earnest tonight. The things you do when you can't walk.

All they post are news stories, no original content. Their profiles are longer than mine and in the case of one it says on the profile she wants to be published one day. Yeah, right. With who's work? They all have their mail set so only those who match their cupid settings can mail them.

Yes, you have seen them. So far I have noticed
four of them. They're doing a good job of pretending to be real. One is a gold member, they all post clinical answers to the advice lines and are posting articles to the magazines.

I'm sure there are more. These are just the ones I've noticed. Well, out of boredom, I started taking a look at their profiles. And their pictures. Then I started looking at the sites scammers use to grab pictures. Gee, if one of them doesn't look EXACTLY like Thea at New Faces! I also noticed that three of them look VERY familiar. Yep. Found pics of two of them at Romance Scam. That was enough for me. So, I did an IP look-up, fully expecting to see they were from Mari El, which is where most of the Russian scammers are from. What a surprise when it told me all these Russian looking southern belles have profiles originating in the same IP block, but not in Mari El, but in Toronto!

Gee, how do four women in three southern states all manage to trace to Sympatico? That is a purely Canadian ISP. Considering the ones I found in the scams files either have money sent to Ireland or Russia, I'm dying to know who is posting for them in Toronto. Or if this is a new scam completely.

The pic? It's not from her profile here. It's from Romance Scam. They have at least a half dozen of the pics "she" has been known to use.

Hey Div, do I look like my name should be Fido or Fifi? Wait, maybe you shouldn't answer that...

Of course I am. As soon as I find all the corresponding pictures. I have to present evidence at the same time. I still have one scam artist to go. That I know of, that is.

The bots that advertise in the chat rooms, I have found they're mostly from Canada. Reading the post, I see it's no coincidence.

Come into my realm! You aren't afraid...are you?

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:11 pm:
We mostly just iggy the bots, or make fun of what they're posting. We also enjoy watching fucktards try to chat up the bots, go off to IM with them and then come back and announce to everyone who knows better, it was an ad for another site. Then they get offended when we ask if they just fell off the apple truck. Heh.

MissAnn ~ most of them are using their profiles as bait. There are too many on the site. I stopped reporting last year, it became a second job. BTW, how do you obtain their ISP info?

    Kofla

MissAnn, there's more of them, at least two have been around longer...

kofla, we talked about that a while ago already LOL, or weren't you paying attention?

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:13 pm:
Found them, Goddess. Then after reading Lil's post, found more. So the count is up to eight. I want to find someone who matches their cupid settings, so they can take one for the team, mail them and find out what the scam is.

It will never stop making me laugh too that the most skany toadish troll men are the ones who really think they have won the jackpot on women and so allow them to keep perpetuating the Dick Foolery.

If they really looked like that...WHY would they be here instead of in some famous man's bed?

This is really no surprise!! I have noticed as well that there are a few you can't respond to and the entries are basically frivolous, however I believe there are those on this lovely site that probably feel my post are of no importance as well. Good investigating!!

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:26 pm:
Thanks. If nothing else, as all these "women" are doing is posting news stories wholesale, all we have to do is wait for them to post something from the LA Times and then they can at least have their blogs removed for copyright infringement. The LA Times goes after people for doing that and sites for allowing it. Hell, I'm on the border of fair use when I rip apart news articles. However, since I'm offering commentary and satire, it is permissible.

last time i read something similar, the blogger was warned for not following the ToU........

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:32 pm:
That was a different situation. Not to mention, it seems the tide is turning. The pic I use is off a website that gathers the pictures Nigerian and Russian scammers use. This "woman" is known by many names all over the net, but her real name is Daniel and he's in Nigeria. The pic I used wasn't from this site. I repeat, not from this site. The model in question doesn't even know her pictures are being used by scammers. That's the sad part. If any of these people who have pictures that are used by scammers decide to sign up for a personals site, they're going to have a rough road ahead of them, as so many who recognize them are going to have at them.

Oh and they have testimonials too!!

I've seen the mail that the fakeys get Its pathetic how these men don't realize that they're scammers. They send telephone numbers, locations, offers of travel and gifts and marriage...as I said before I can't even fuckin get dinner!

tee hee

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:35 pm:
Yeah, I'm really wondering about the testimonials.

I had a scammer 'try' me on another site. Said he was an engineer in Africa. I asked him when turn-key was? Huh, what is that, he said. Bammm!!! Red flags were flying like Old Glory! Then his next line was that he loved me. Yea right, whatever! The ultimate was when he wanted me to accept a $10,000 check for him, from a third party, cash it, and wire him a portion of it, of course keeping a percentage for myself. I replied, I don't have a criminal mind, but this sounds like money laundering to me. He finally gave up. I also alerted the site where he contacted me, and they pulled his profile.

Thanks for bringing it up that it is here too.

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:47 pm:
Yep. There's an entire group on Yahoo dedicated to support for people who have been scammed, how not to get scammed and warning others this scam exists. The Nigerian scammers have discovered that using the personals is a great way to get victims, as it plays on their emotions. So much better than the old, I'm dying and want you to divest my money scam.

The sad part is, people who think they're savvy and who know better than to fall for the letter scam fall for the romance scam. They're just lonely and needy enough and can't believe someone that gorgeous would want the likes of them. The scammers type from scripts in internet cafes and a lot of the time, it's a well polished organization running it, with bosses watching the people on the computers work.

One of the signs people should watch out for is, the scammer will say they're from a developed country where Engish is the spoken language, but will use words that betray the fact they really don't speak English.

They will ask you about your family, but if you give them a sob story about death, destruction and mayhem, they won't even acknoledge what you told them, just continue to ask you personal questions, to see if you fit the perimeter of the scam they're running.

When you won't send them money, they start lowering the amount they need, then when you still say no, they tell you how you don't love them, you don't trust them, they prey. Pure and simple.

You got lucky, as you knew what you were talking about. Mostly they prey on people who don't know any better. Many have lost their life savings to these scams. That check he wanted to send you was a fake. There are people who now accept the checks, hand them over to the Justice Department as they have fingerprints and then lie about the Western Union routing number.

thanks!!! Miss

Ill add that one to the long list

Im concerned here
1. that they lasted so long without being removed,
2. that even with reply to my post today from "the CEO" , they are still there NOW and
3. how in H did they get approved when one of their staff told me on the phone that my used - to - be - long profile wouldnt pass the software because of it's size yet it was 1/10 or even less than some of those i listed???

MissAnnThrope replies on 5/30/2006 12:53 pm:
I'm concerned that the FAQ on the home page that addresses how to stay safe on line is at the very bottom of the page and all but hidden. It used to have a much more prominent place.

People are always going to get scammed. They want to believe. I'm ready to go to abuse with two of them. The one in the pic who has been found out as an actual Nigerian scammer and another, who is actually the same person. Hell, they're probably all the same scammer or group of scammers. Just those two ask the Western Union payments to go to the same person in Nigeria.

BLAME CANADA hahaha

As some of you know, I am a Canadian and I live an hr north of Toronto.

I bet you it is men that are behind these scams. It is certainly not the person pictured here.

The best way to combat these people who scam men is education. This site can do a better job...I find they dont do enough.

btw, I just put you on my WATCH LIST

MissAnnThrope replies on 6/2/2006 2:55 pm:
Heh. Be sure to check sites like Romance Scam and modeling websites like Focus Hawaii. That's a favorite to steal pics from.

Are you still annoying the fakes with the webcam sites?

Just as an aside, the operation in Mari El is not even the most sophisticated. Lugansk is infamous for it's scamming operations, and Chelyabinsk has its share. There is such a huge market for women in the former Soviet Union that westerners have trained a lot of them in this new industry.

MissAnnThrope replies on 6/2/2006 2:58 pm:
Yep. The Russian mail order bride sites tend to be among the worst. But a good number are coming out of Nigeria. This is all so new for me on this site. I know the scammers figured dating sites were great about a year ago, for the new scam. I'm so used to the usual ones around here. The chicks from the Philipines and the guys from India and Pakistan, looking for green cards.

yes, noticed those two after Saint put up that post. This site is full of much shadyness at times.

MissAnnThrope replies on 6/2/2006 2:59 pm:
Yeah. Those two are using the same model's pics. Focus Hawaii has changed all her pics and started watermarking the ones of her that are there for the public to see. But the watermark can always be cropped off.

I really want to know why nothing is being done about this group, there are at least eight of them.

Many sites are full of shadyness.

I joined a completely free dating site (plenty of fish) and in 3 days I have NOT received any phoney e mails. I was very impressed.

I tried out myspace and I have received at least 5 scam e mails in the last few weeks...they have given up on me because I didnt bite and I am sure they share sucker lists.

MissAnn, I checked out a scam website and I spotted that pic of the blond lady you are displaying here.

I think the people who approve profiles should have these pics besides their workstations.....maybe they do....when you think about it.....what is in it for them to not allow them ?

Steve

MissAnnThrope replies on 6/2/2006 3:02 pm:
I've read the lists of sites where scammers have been found and caught. Plenty of Fish is one of them. My Space is becoming notorious for it. It's always the same scam too. They ask for money, claiming they want to get home to the United States. But I know a number of us have complained and handed over evidence these women aren't who they claim and they still haven't deleted any of them.

I find it hard to believe you are getting dissed by the men of AdultFriendFinder.

Div, every single woman on here gets dissed by the men. For not looking like the perfect porn fantasy, for not looking for married men, for not looking for men in a certain age range, for not being a good submissive who believes any man who says fuck me is entitled... The list goes on. At least 80% of the men on this site anymore are complete fucktards who will accuse us of not being real, just because they're not our types and they want instant sex with anyone in a 10 mile radius.

Trust me, those of us who are not pefect looking are being abused by men here daily. Men who make Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons look hot, I might add.

Sad the way scams use people's sympathy to separate them from their money. I stay safe by having a simple rule that I don't send money to anyone over the phone, by mail solicitations or internet unless I deal with a real charity that I initiated. When you get a call from some police officer's benefit organization only about ten percent of the money goes to the police officers and the rest goes to the phone call boiler room.

If I want to pay for sex, I want the woman to be in the room with me!
