D & D Free, You Say? How Do You Know?

OK, I'll trust you about the "D" that has a "rug" after it! But how do you know if you are disease free? Even if both partners have recently tested negative for HIV, what about all the other sexually transmitted diseases that doctors usually don't even test for? To name a few of the commoner ones, there are syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes II, human papillomavirus (HPV), hepatitis B, and trichomonas. Those last three affect 20 to 50% of sexually active young people in various surveys. And I've left out a bunch of less common ones. Some don't even have reasonably priced commercial tests, and there are no laboratory test panels that include them all. I recommend that we ask our physicians to test us for as many of these as possible. Then use condoms carefully, and it helps if you can limit yourself to as few sexual partners as possible, with low-risk histories. If you have questions about any of the STDs, or a story to tell, please reply on this blog.

I'm sorry that happened to you. There must be many more, and there are things much worse than herpes one can catch, e.g., HIV. But I'm glad that you have not given up and that you in fact are still active on AdultFriendFinder. BTW, did you always use condoms? They have only limited effectiveness for herpes and HPV, but they are better than nothing.

I hope others can get the message before something happens that they will regret. Ask partners for a full sexual history and decide whether you believe them. Even better would be if AdultFriendFinder permitted me to organize a test panel including multiple STDs that one could order without a doctor, using one's "handle" and submitting fingerstick specimen on filter paper, urine, and saliva on a swab. But so far they seem not to be interested.

I Love the idea of organizing a test panel!!!! This seems to be long overdue. Please try to persue this farther.
