When Bad Things Happen...

First of all, by way of an update from my last post, my “little”, 6’4”, 265lb brother is showing signs of life again. He woke up for a short time last night and although he can’t remember anything, and he was asleep again real quick, it is a very good sign.

The Doctors are still quite concerned about internal damage, permanent memory loss etc.
Only time will tell.

At any given time here in blogland or out in the
“real” world, you or someone you know is going
through a real tough time. As you know if you read my last post, A really bad night , it’s been a rough few days in my world.

I pulled out some old tapes and CDs, and
I must have listened to this very well known classic 50 times. A person doesn’t realize how much truth there is in music, until it resonates with something you’re dealing with.

LET IT BE

When I find myself in times of trouble
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
And in my hour of darkness
She is standing right in front of me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

And when the broken hearted people
Living in the world agree,
There will be an answer, let it be.
For though they may be parted there is
Still a chance that they will see
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be. yeah
There will be an answer, let it be.

And when the night is cloudy,
There is still a light that shines on me,
Shine on until tomorrow, let it be.
I wake up to the sound of music
Mother mary comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.
Let it be, let it be.
There will be an answer, let it be.
Let it be, let it be,
Whisper words of wisdom, let it be.

Another thing I’ve learned is when you reach out,
People will usually grab your hand and try to help.

I’m not trying to be a sadist or anything, but I’d like you guys and gals to share some challenges…big or small…for two reasons.

First, you can help me get my mind off things
of my own for a bit. Believe it or not, telling me your troubles and challenges will help.

Second, if you’re newer here and still an unbeliever, this exercise in reaching out will educate you on how wonderful folks can be in offering advice and encouragement when you need it.

Glad that your brother is doing better. The thing with head injuries is that it is an unknown. The fact he woke up is an excellent sign. May his road to recovery be the fast lane.

I'm pleased to hear that some progress has been made. Early news is good news usually in cases of trauma and I hope your brother now goes from strength to strength..... warm

LustyTaurus replies on 3/19/2006 7:29 pm:
warm..I'm no doctor but I knew the first 24-48 hrs was critical. The fact he woke up, could move his body parts and talk normally was huge. We still don't know about memory, or other internal injuries entirely...but it is good news so far. Thanks for taking the time and checking in, I value that, you're a good man.

I've had my fair share of troubles and challenges, but they don't compare with what you're going through at this moment in time. I'm happy to hear that your brother and best friend is on the mend. My heart is with you, Lusty.

I am so glad your brother came to that is a very good sign, I was an E.M.T. So I do have some idea about the medical aspect of that. As far as telling you my troubles and challenges, you have read some in my blog so you know what is going on at this moment in time. But one thing that I deal with on a daily basis that will never leave me, Is the fact that I suffer from PTSD. Whicxh is caused by having served my time in "The Gulf War". I spent all of my time over there behind the enemy lines, which is really hard to deal with. what with the constant worries of capture, or even worse. But enough about that, My prayers are with your brother, and your family, Wising you nothing but calm winds, and smooth seas from here on out.

LustyTaurus replies on 3/19/2006 9:10 pm:
Wow cru, sorry to hear about that...PTSD is a tough one adn i hope you can find a way to manage it OK...a friend of mine had PTSD from abuse as a kid, and the only way she could sleep at night was by smoking a joint, it seemed to keep the nightmares away. Thanks for the thoughts, encouragement and kind words.

Your brother is lucky to have siblings who care...when i was in an explosion that burned me severly my own brother ,couldnt be bothered to check in,send a card or do much of anything...my own recovery took a year with much help from strangers and friends ,but again the family ws absent.....but when I see an out pouring of support from strangers,It restores some of my faith in humanity....with the signs being so positive so early...he will recover....see him well in your mind..let no doubts creep in,and it will so...Positive energy to you and yours...Handyman

LustyTaurus replies on 3/20/2006 8:13 pm:
handyman...it just plain sucks that you had to go through that, with your physical pain and your family. I am truely sorry to hear that.
Thanks for the positve encouragement, you seem to me to be a very decent human being. Yes the response to this from folks here has been unbelievable.

I know that the waiting and hoping is hard...my thoughts are with you.

I have had a few tragedies in my life, but it was the "accidental one," that came out of nowhere, that completely blew my world apart. I remember being very angry at God. I had to rely on friends to carry me until I could stand on my own again...don't know if I would have made it but for their love.

LustyTaurus replies on 3/21/2006 9:15 pm:
clevergirl...I suck at waiting and hoping...they are not normally verbs I have in my vocabulary. Thanaks for stopping by

You inspired me to write my hope/survival story...our situations are different, yet similar. Something bad happened to a good person in both cases. My answer isn't your answer...quite...because my answer was TIME. Have no idea if it will be of any help...

LustyTaurus replies on 3/21/2006 9:17 pm:
That's great clevergirl...I hope it helps you and others come to terms with some bad things. Thanks for sharing that with me.

Taurus....good to hear the update. Hope in abundance.

Not facing any tragedies [knock on wood]. But many years ago struggling with some stuff, I heard this song. Reading your McCartney, I thought of this:

"I Will Not Take These Things for Granted"
by Toad the Wet Sprocket

♫ How can I hold the part of me that only you can carry?
It needs a strength I haven't found
But if it's frightening, I'll bear the cold
And on the telephone
You offer warm asylum

I'm listening
Flowers in the garden
Laughter in the hall
Children in the park
I will not take these things for granted
Anymore♫

Continued good thoughts and prayers from Minnesota....Meer

LustyTaurus replies on 3/21/2006 9:19 pm:
hey meer...I don't know that song, but I'm definately gonna download it...thanks so much.
