Make Some Noise!!!

Generally I try not to draw too much attention to myself (the shy thing, ya know?), but sometimes it happens...

Sometimes I like to make noise. It's fun! If I'm walking down the hall at work and there's nobody around I'll walk with extra-heavy feet to see how loud I can make my steps. It always makes me smile. One of my favorite things to do is bounce/hop down the main stairway. It's enclosed and thus has a nice echo effect.

Since I only do these things when nobody's around I was quite surprised the other day when I got caught "red-handed" - and these people knew my name! I stopped, smiled, and just shrugged my shoulders. As I continued on my way I smiled even bigger now that my secret amusement was known!

That incident reminded me of a song - well, one particular part of a song. Allow me to share it with you:

Things Are What You Make Of Them
by Bishop Allen

I was spendin' my days with my demons, yeah
They had taken up inside o' my heart
They were tryin' to keep me entertained
They were tearin' me apart

Well my memory, she was packin', yeah
And I knew that she would never come back
She handed me a letter and
Then she vanished into black

And the letter said:
Things are what you make of 'em
Things are what you make of 'em baby
And you know what I mean
Yeah you know what I mean

Well I met up with my common sense
And I knew her by the rose in her hair
She said: If you don't make a noise
God will never know you're there

So I purchased me a ticket, yeah
For a meetin' with Jesus Christ
He shook my hand and offered me
Just this thimble of advice

He was tellin' me:
Things are what you make of 'em
Things are what you make of 'em baby
And you know what I mean
Yeah you know what I mean....

to the people who caught me!

I have a bad habit of making too much noise when I walk. I have very loud shoes, especially one pair I own that sound like hammers banging on the steps when I go down. It's especially bad since my new job stuck me in the "extra quiet section" of the building. The slightest noise and I get a big fat SHHHHHHHH!

I'm really only an "Attention Whore" when I'm blogging. Really I am.

I for the most part have been the shy sort. I don't generally go out of my way to draw attention to myself but I have been known to do crazy things. Most of the time it was when I was younger and with my friends or family.

You might have done it yourself or seen kids react the same way, but did you ever flinch when your mom or dad reached for something near you because you thought they were about to smack you? This of course looks bad if you're someone on the outside looking in. So naturally I've been known to draw attention to this. When I use to have to go to the store with my mom, if she happened to reach for something near me I'd scream "No Mom! Don't hit me again" and then sometimes I'd run away. If she was perhaps on another isle, I'd act like I was lost and start "looking" for her and saying things like "Mommy, where are you? Please don't leave me again". Then when I'd find her I'd make a big deal out of it and go running down the isle for her. I was such a great kid. This of course looked really interesting when I was 16.

My friends were always worried I'd embarass them sometimes also. Once I was with one of my friend's at a store. He was at the register paying and I was just browsing. I walked too close to the automatic doors and they opened up. Without skipping a beat, I dropped to my knees, starting kneeling and hollering at the top of my lungs "DEMONS! DEMONS IN THE DOOR!". I'm lucky my friend actually let me get in the car.

I really for the most part like to remain hidden. Just part of the crowd.

huny - Thanks! And I have to ask: Are you laughing at me when you imagine this? LOL

frogger - I would never sush you! Sorry you got stuck in the boring area. Hey - cheers to loud shoes!!!!

Jeepidiot - I prefer to be part of the crowd as well. I just found out that these people actually called my co-worker and told her how loud I was! And hey - tell your mother I'm sorry for her!
