It just struck me

I've been busy the past couple of days! I went back to work on Tuesday morning, after the long weekend, and realized just how buried I am. Oh well, it happens. Perhaps someday I'll get caught up. At least I don't have to worry about being bored at work!

All of my computer time recently has been reserved for work stuff, hence I haven't been posting or commenting. Don't worry - I'm not mad at anyone, and I'm not leaving Blogland.

I was just listening to some music as I was working here, and there was a particular line in a particular song that just struck me. I have listened to this song many times, and know every word by heart. For some reason, while listening to it this time there was one line that seemed clearer than all the rest. It seemed to be louder than the rest. It seemed more pertinent than the rest. Why? I have no idea, but I felt compelled to share it. So, without further ado, here is the line I speak of:

"But someday we'll all be old
and I'll be so damn beautiful..."

It's from the Anna Nalick song "Paper Bag".

It's time for me to sign off for tonight, but I will leave you with these questions:

Is there a certain song that speaks to you? Is it the entire song, or is there a certain lyric that stands out? Why do you suppose that song means so much to you?

Almost every song speaks to me in some way. I don't listen to them if they don't. What they are saying all depends on my mood.

I hear ya, same with me. Back to work and dreading the pile up of extra duty. However, after a long restful weekend it is nice to get back into the swing of things and reward yourself with something nice when it is done with a twinkle.

Carpe Diem

I find myself drawn to songs by a certain refrain, like Billy Currington's, "Must Be Doing Something Right", or Conway Twitty's, "Slow Hand". I am drawn to songs because of their pertinence to whatever is going on in my life at the time, or what I WISH was going on in my life.

My Lovely Man by the Red Hot Chilis, google the lyrics. It reminds me of a long lost friend and also makes me think of the bond I have with one or two others.

And we all know how your mood varies! I understand what you're saying. Different songs speak up at different times...

A twinkie? I haven't had a twinkie in ages!

"Don't worry - I'm not mad at anyone..."

    except me

    so damn cute...it's annoying

    LOL

Well as far as songs I have too many to name...

but I'll give it two shakes of a lambs tail...

Here I Dreamnt I Was An Architect by The Decemberists

Very poetic song that seems to metaphor many different relationships I've had in my life.

Life Will Go On by Chris Issak

I originally bought the CD not long after my best friend died and just recently found it going through some old stuff...really reminds me of that time, but also that, well, life goes on.

Kick Some Ass by Stroke 9

Many people who know me consider this to be my theme song. Can't say I completely disagree...

Get What You Give by The New Rascals

I caught something briefly on TV the other day that had this song on there and decided to dig it up again...always been struck by the chorus.

Ya got the music in you
    Don't let go
You got the music in you
    One dance left
You know the world is gonna pull through
    Don't give up
Ya got a reason to live
    Can't forget
We only get what we give

Always a good reminder that as long as you're still kicking that you've always got one more out and one more chance to swing for the fences.
"so damn cute...it's annoying"
Really?

Thanks for the list of songs! You mention a couple that I don't know, but you can bet that I'm going to check them out!
