Run for the Plunger!!!!

I use this expression in my everyday life to signify general panic situations. Someone might begin to describe a situation in which they were on the verge of a major panic and I'll ask...

"so you had to run for the plunger"?

oftentimes getting me a baffled look from the person I said it to.

I use this term when I think they've been given that same feeling of panic stricken helplessnes you usually get when you've layed far too big of a turdlog in the toilet which , upon flushing, plugs up the whole system and you are sitting there watching the level of water quickly rise to the brim of the bowl.

This just happened to me but luckily the water level came back down before the overflow and also there was a plunger not too far off on "standby".

Some of you Europeans may not get the next part of this but maybe you will. It would be great ( or more appropriately "grate" ) if toilets came standard with a the equivlaent of a garbage disposal ( which would act as a turdmill ) in them down at the bottom portion fo the bowl. This would preclude any need to ever "run for the plunger".

PS. I have never ever encountered a kitchen sink based garbage disposal in Europe so that is why I said what I did about it concerning Europeans.

Oh...wow!!

We were just having this discussion at work the other day...

I call it "blatzing up the joint".

And when it happens at a party..God, you can't make that stuff up.

Your idea is too cool, and so revolutionary and , dare I say it, radical.....

LET'S GO METS!!!

Frighteningly.....I get that. Not sure I wouldn't quite described it as poingantly as you have, but I certainly know panicked pressure.

Then again...sometimes laying that badboy down helps that pressure, doesn't it???

If I knew a good industrial designer and someone that knew the legal invention end of it I might apply for a patent. Maybe it's how I'll finally make my millions.

I'll have to agree with you about "laying that badboy down" plus I like your use of the work "poingnant".

I also saw a quite entertaining portion of the Antonio Banderas SNL rerun last night that I thought you might like called The
13th Annual Women's Basketball Coaches' Fashion Awards
. I laughed anyway.

Well. concerning the contrast in feedback on this I'll simply quote Abe Lincoln...with Toilet humor "you can please some of the people some of the time", uh....... what was the rest of of it?

"...but you can't please all the people all of the time" Or something to the equivalent thereof I believe...but you knew that already.

This is my first trip to your blog and I must say that that did indeed give me quite the chuckle. A perfect way to sum up the OMFG pucker factor type situation where you freeze a moment then your brain kicks in to remind you that yes, you can indeed fix this before the proverbial fit hits the shan.

Hi and welcome curiouskitty675,

Yes, that's exactly what I pretended that I had forgotten.

Toilet humor is not what everyone wants in their cup of java but also many do prefer it too.

And thank you profusely for chuckling at my blog.

PS. I also like that phrase "fit hits the shan" I have a freind with a brother named Shan and I think I can find some good usage of that phrase.

An excellent post, very plunging in depth here... Thanx for sharing this!

Thanks Spunky,

This all being initially triggered by my eye being quite hopelessly caught by seeing that you had also composed a quite thoughtful and relevant post involving a toilet plunger. But I'm a real sucker for a good plunger post.

I'll even go so far as to say that I think through the medium of the toilet plunger social harmony and world peace can indeed some day be achieved! And with posts like your Valentines/plunger entry you are certainly doing your part to make that ambitious vision a reality.
