Full Moon

Have any of you noticed that during a full moon crazy things happen? I am just throwing this question out to the Universe, because I have had the strangest day of my life today, and there is a full moon.

My day started with my alarm clock not working....okay that is sort of basic. When I got into work for 7:30 a.m., my first patient was drunk and the second looked and acted like she was coming off something. This is not a normal occurrence and yet I had two back to back.

Then on my lunch break today with my co-worker, we were eating at a restaurant and across the street, there was a bank robbery. Police were everywhere, and the shut down the road and we had to hang out there for awhile. Once freed, we went our separate ways.

I decided that for the rest of my day I was going to travel around the state and take pictures...got to love hobbies. So I went to Rouses Point NY and I hung out there waiting for the full moon. I saw it and it was a beautiful blood moon. That means it was reddish orange, but superstition is a blood moon is a warning that something bad will happen. I decided to head home, it was around 8:30 and it takes me an hour to get home.

I get to the most secluded spot on my way back home and I get a flat. Open my trunk, there isn't a jack (former roomate liberated it). A police officer stops to assist me and realizes after he jacks up my car, my spare is flat. So he calls for a tow truck, no one wants to come to the secluded area to get me....

The officer gets another call leaves me there, and my battery dies. Finally a tow truck arrives and my wallet is 225.00 lighter. My car is sitting at the garage, without a fixed tire and a jumped battery and I sat waiting for 3 and a half hours. I swaer it is the full moon or the universe wants to kick the shit out of me.

Actually I can believe he got away on a bike, probably cut through the woods with a pick up was waiting. Threw the bike in the back and drove away. We are sort of in Mayberry a bit.....

I can give you a rationalist explanation for what happened - it is an example fo what some people call "mindfulness".
Our brains cannot deal with all the information we receive (from our senses) every day, so most of it is ignored - over 90% in fact. When we are looking for, or expecting, things to happen we take more notice of them and attach greater significance to them.
Full moons have a lot of folkloric significance in most cultures - a lot of it revolves around strange occurrences. We are all exposed to this folklore (whether we believe it or not) so we are subconsiously expecting things to happen, and when they do we take greater notice of them and associate them with the folklore beliefs. Research has shown there is no increase in crime, accidents or any other phenomena on specific dates (full moons, friday 13th, etc), we just take more notice of them on those days.
there is an interesting experiment (derived from the training of many "esoteric schools") - when you get up in the morning, select a colour (say, red) and look for it all day. You will then notice many red things all day that you had not noticed before - they have always been there but as you were not specifically looking for them you did not notice them before. This is how the old fortune tellers trick of telling you that you will meet a "tall dark stranger" works - by telling you this, it conditions your mind to look for them, even though they have been there all along.
The moon is often a reddish colour at this time of year - due to there being more dust in the atmosphere than at other times (that is why a red moon is known as a "harvest moon"). If you were out at he full moon a couple of nights ago, there was a total eclipse of the moon - this usually turns the moon strange colours as well.

Of course, I may be completely wrong - who knows? Life is mysterious, we must enjoy it while we can - make a list of all the good and enjoyable things that happened that day (however small), I'm sure you will find that list to be much longer than the list of weird stuff.
