Me or You?

Girl: Do I ever cross your mind?
Guy: Rarely
Girl: But you cross mine all the time. Can I ask you something else then?
Guy: Sure, anything.
Girl: Will you do anything for me?
Guy: No
Girl: (Her heart is broken) If one day I am gone, will if affect your life?
Guy: No
Girl: Do you even care about me?
Guy: No
Girl: You have a choice, me or your world.. Tell me now.
Guy: My world

The girl walked away, the guy stood there and after a heartbeat he ran after her and grabbed her hand

Guy: What my heart holds, I can never explain. Girl you didn't cross my mind all the time, but every time. When you asked me will I do anything, you never knew I would do everything. When you asked me when you're gone, will if affect my life, it wouldn't cause it would affect my universe, my heart, my soul, my mentality and everything inside of me. When you asked if I care about you, I don't care, for what I do is love you, love you with no boundaries or limit, defy words beyond expressions that a naked eye can see. When you walked away and asked, you or my world sadly you didn't know you are my world.

My friend sent me this email a long time ago. I'm sure that many of you might have also read it.

I just that it was sweet and thought that I'd share it with you.

I liked your ode to nice guys a lot more. This one is kinda silly. Leave it to a guy to come up with a load of bullshit when a girl leaves him.

Sounds like an isolated moment in time... as if the perfection of the heavens has put stars in his eyes.

Ah, the idealist and the artist in many of us would no doubt resonate with this piece.

Then again, I suppose she could be either his 'soulmate'. LOL
Now there's an interesting topic for future discussion. Do soulmates exist.

Thanks for sharing, Sarah. Look forward to any other romantic pieces you can share with, oh Princess of the navel jewels .

I think it is an excellent example of the difference in the way men’s and women’s brains function. As well as being a dreamily romantic cautionary tale. Its theme is men don’t neglect to express your love and need to your partner. Thanks for sharing

I think the point of your post was that men guard their feelings, as opposed to women, who often will pour out feelings and desires from the bottom of their hoping hearts. There is something to this. In our culture, men are supposed to be "strong and silent." To reveal deep affection is to reveal vulnerability, and most men are afraid to do this.

I do not know how to put my next idea without sounding cynical; I am not a cynical person; just like you I am a hopeful romantic. However, having said that, in any relationship there is a sort of "negotiation" or "struggle" [not quite the right words, but close] for moral superiority. This process unfortunately tends to cause people to lie and to withhold information--and in the case of men especially to not say how strongly they love a woman.

Perhaps it is the case that men are afraid that women will take advantage of them if they reveal their true feelings. Many, perhaps most men are enormously frightened of being made a fool of and being taken advantage of or being rejected by a woman--and the more beautiful the woman, the greater the fear.

Therefore what? My advice is to seek relationships with strong and confident men, men who are not afraid to tell the truth about their feelings--or anything else. Kiss a lot of frogs, they turn into toads. Kiss the Frog Prince, and you have found your soul mate--much easier said than done.

Can't quite remember if I posted this already. Apologies if you see a duplication of this posting.

I received a copy of that girl-guy dialogue in an e-mail at work today, promoting International Friendship Week (19th-25th February) and encouraging recipients to forward it on to others.
