Tight Leathers And Biiiiig Hair--Yeah!

If you never have been or not the type to be nostalgic, then skip on by this post here....I will admit I have a huge tendency to reminisce about my childhood and preteen years, god i wished i woulda listened when my parents would tell me, better enjoy being young while you can, cause when you grow up......well, im sure you all have heard it too, and some may be saying it to your kids, lol......but my thing, i am SOOOOOOO stuck in the 80's it aint even funny.....people think with my age i should like the 90s more, NO, hate the 90's, i miss all the music of the 80's, you know, poison, def leppard, aerosmith, G-N-R, whitesnake, with their skinny little selves melted into those tight leathers and poofed out hair, and they looked better in make-up then most women, lol.....then theres the movies of the 80's--GOD, they were so fun to me! I always wanted to be that labrock chick in weird science! and the good old brat pack.....(sighs).....and lets not forget the games.....i know, oh so cheesy in comparison with todays standards, but so easy! game of pac-man or q-bert anyone??? and how easy was the atari joystick??? (never forget your first, lol)....the 80s were one of the times when you could purposely dress mix-matched and wear shredded jeans and shirts and it was "cool".......I could go on and on, but my point here is to find out, is anyone else stuck in the 80s?? What was your favorite thing you remember from the 80s? What was the worst thing you remember? (as if anything bad existed then heh heh)

Yep... the good old days. The 70's weren't so bad, either. Still partial to some of the 60's. What was the best? Too many moments to isolate any one as the best; and I suppose that's true for the worst, too.

Thanks for posting on our blog. You forgot about Motley Crue, Rat and Armored Saint. I wouldn't give two cents to see them now, but they do seem to supply the sound track to most of my 80's flashbacks! Thanks again.

You're lucky I'm in limbo somewhere between the 60s and 70s. Viva la sexual revolution
Pre-AIDS
Pre-political drug war
pre-politcal correctness
pre-government telling you whats best for you and your family
you could actually sit anywhere and smoke cigarettes.
I really miss those days, what I can remember of them.

I liked the hair bands, as well. Metallica, AC/DC, and even U2 were my favorites. Probably the worst event for me, was the bombing of the Marines barracks in Beirut in 1983.

Wow! someone else who is "stuck in the 80's"!!! I get accused of it all the time...lol
Let's see...worst thing to happen, (besides the Reagan years *smirk*),was the Challenger blowing up and killing those astronauts...I watched live on TV, and will never forget it...
Best thing was definately the music....everything from your faves, the big hair/metal stuff to techno dance stuff like Madonna, (even though I hate her today, but I danced my ASS off to "Material Girl" and "Like A Virgin" in High school!!)There were the Pat Benatar Look-alikes, the Madonna wanna-be's and the preppy girls, there were TIGHT JEANS on the guys (wish that would come into fashion again)
OK, here is a list of other cool 80's bands: Depeche Mode, A-Ha (whatever happened to them??LO, Billy Idol, Madness, Yaz, Big Country (another one-hit wonder!), David Bowie, Kim Wilde, The Go-go's, the Vinyls, Tears for Fears,Huey Lewis and the News,Eurythmics, Cyndi Lauper, Wham, The Jam, Style Council, Pet Shop Boys...
WHEW!! I miss it!!

I gotta throw in here. Class of 84, so I've got the 70's and the 80's. 80's are my gig for sure. When VH1 ran I love the 80's I was glued. I agree with Shameless on all those bands. I've always been a big Huey Lewis fan. Saw him last year in Vegas, I swear to God for 2 hours I was 18 again, forgot all the grown up crap and just got lost. It was so awesome, the guy still rocks and he's in his 50's. Bad stuff, the shuttle for sure I remember it like yesterday and President Reagan's speech, I was in shock. 80's good stuff, high school of course, making out, exploring, being nervous, first time getting caught drinking. It was a different world then for sure. The Giants, Redskins, and 49er's destroying Denver in the Superbowls. And how about Sting and the Police, great album Syncronicity. Greek, well and all other bloggers thanks for the stroll down memory lane.

Lived in England in the eighties and was in my early 30's and trying to be a responsible workaholic.
But damm I wanted to shag Cyndi Lauper big time. The voice and the crazyness was the perfect combination.
Actually she was on Tv the other day and I still want to shag her !!

Also "Live Aid". Now heres a question. If everyone who says they were at Live aid actually was there. Then why doesnt Wembley Stadium hold 2 million people. 1.9 million are telling porkies.

Have fun America luv Ireland.xx

80's Ruled!! almost my whole music library is 80's Rock. The rest is Classic Rock. Don't really care for the 90's and newer stuff. These new bands just make a bunch of noise and to cover up their inability to sing or play. Bring back the Guitar Riffs and Solos of the 80's anytime and i'm happy.

".......I could go on and on, but my point here is to find out, is anyone else stuck in the 80s?? What was your favorite thing you remember from the 80s? What was the worst thing you remember? (as if anything bad existed then heh heh)"

VH-1 had some episodes called "I Love the 80's" The people narrating it were like Lief Garrett, and Andrew Dice Clay. They had the band "A Flock of Seaguls" on lmao. The Rubics Cube, stretch Armstrong, Strawberry Shortcake, Sea Monkeys, Smurfs.
You wanted to be Kelly LeBrock from Wierd Science? How interesting. The music was cool. I was more of a pop listner. John Cougar Mellencamp, Van Halen (Not Van Hagar),the Go-Go's (Recently saw them in concert.) The Motels, Bruce Springstien, Scandal, Shiela E., (Saw Prince in Concert), CD's just came out, and the first one I ever purchased was Bonnie Tyler "Faster Than The Speed of Night". MTV came out. The first music video I ever saw was 1999. I was a member of the German Club, and The Young Republicans- you gotta remember President Reagan was in the White House.
The movies? Aliens, Cannonball Run, Flashdance, Dirty Dancing, Lone Wolf McQuade, Back To The Future, Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan, Footloose, Rambo, Top Gun- when VHS finally beat out Beta(that was the first VHS movie I ever purchased.) YES, the BRAT PACK! From the Breakfast Club and St. Elmos Fire. Emelio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Judd Nelson, Anthony Michel Hall, Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald.
Video Games- Well, I actually played Pong. And had a Nintendo with Donkey Kong. But had to play Atari at a friends house to play Asteroids, and he of course had a broken Commadore Vic 20. I do remember Ms. Pac Man. I still luv that game. Clothes? I wore mainly jeans- Levis, I had a pair of pluther pants, and two pair of parachute pants. Acid Washed jeans, I had a white cloth suit to look like miami vice until I got blood all over it from fighting with a hockey player. Nike Air came out in the 80's, and when I got real thin from running I wore tights around and a fanny pack lol. I remember the first butt pack I saw- I was like is that guy gay? he has a purse around his waist.
The 1990's-
I saw Guns-n-Roses in concert- since you mentioned them. I heard Axl Rose just quit Guns-n-Roses overseas, and Sebastion has taken over for him. I was really hoping Axl could hold it together until they made it to the states.

Now You Guys and Gals Have Some Great Memories lol.
I remember when President Reagan was shot, they let us out of school early. The Challenger blowing up because of O Rings, and them showing that the crew compartment was intact until it hit the water. They Pushed TVs into all the classrooms and dismissed anyone who thought it too violent to watch. The 1984 Olympics! USA USA! We dominated everything. Mary Lou Retton got a 10 on vault and saved the team all around in Gymnastics. Scott Hamilton was break dancing on the ice in figure skating, and came up with that back flip. Mary Decker got tripped on the track by south african Zola Budd. and in 1988 Florence Griffith Joyner came onto the scene with her fingernails and one legged tights. The US track team was all star. Jackie Joyner Kersey, Carl Lewis (Ben Johnson Steroids Canada) I think Edwin Moses made his last debeut there. Granted, the evil empire refused to participate, but they would have been slammed like everyone else.

4it921- You wanted to shag Cindy Lauper lmao.
cumngetme1965- Ronnie Van Zant is buried in a median strip in downtown Gainsville, there is a statue of him over his grave. As to the Steelers, the terrible towel was invented in the 80's, and they were hated for playing dirty. Mean Joe Green, for example.
madro40- You mentioned drinking. The 80's was when they raised the drinking age to 21!
BRONZEHALO- Yes, valley girls lol. And yes, Phoebe Cates mm. The last episode of Mash was on in 1983 I think. They rolled out the TVs in school so we could watch it.
Shameless_Biotch- Madonna! how could I forget. And The first concert I went to... George Michel (Not WHAM)Then the nudes they published of her... and Vanessa Williams losing her Miss America crown for nudes published in Penthouse.
mzhunyhole- You were smoking pot and listning to Willie, Waylon, and the Boys, and Willie was getting busted for marajuana posession.
yukonpaul- yep the marine barracks, and the very next day, President Reagan thumped Khadafi's headquarters. Also in 1983 The US rescued students in the Faulkland Islands(Operation Urgent Fury), and the Harrier was introduced. 1988 US went after Noriega (Operation Just Cause)in Panama.
mk1867- I remember there was a diet candy called Aids that came out the same time AIDS was named! It was pulled from the store shelves.
