I Suck At Jeopardy!

For the past 10 years or so my nightly routine has pretty much been the same providing i was home, each night at 7pm i tune into the wheel, check out what kind of outfit they slapped vanna in and laugh at pats little cracks.....im thinking each time i solve a puzzle b4 the contestants, oh, i so rock, knowing if my butt was up there, i'd probably keep hittin bankrupt and possibly forget my alphabet from stage fright.....but anywho.....after wheel comes jeopardy....well, this show makes me feel like the dumbest chick alive. im lucky to even guess 2 answers out of the whole show lol......i mean what do i know about 18th century lit?? Im wondering, do any of you guys guess right on jeopardy or are you as clueless as i am? and how on earth do them people get so smart to know all that stuff?

I used to watch it, but stopped because I couldn't get the answers

My fav game show was Family Feud! (The Richard Dawson years)

I feel dumb as a post watching Jeopardy...but I have a bond to it though, as my Grandma never missed a show until the day she died...now I'm sure she watches from heaven...

I usually get about half on jeopardy. Used to KILL Millionaire. I'm FULL of totally worthless knowledge. lol Most of mine came from 20 years of crosswords. Still love them.Surely doesn't make anyone smart tho', just informed on obscure trivia. Do a Sunday newspaper crossword and see how much it's like many of the shows.Look at a New york Times Sunday paper and you'll see stuff you never imagined,Latin, French, German history etc. Things nearly noone knows.( or usually cares about ) lol Never let it make you feel inadequate. All of that stuff is foolishness for entertainment value. If they can't make you feel goofy, where's the challenge? Guys are just there for Vanna anyway lol

YOu know I grew up with my mom watching Jeapordy, even the family heading up to NYC so she could try out. She missed the cut by one answer. My mom truly knew all the answers. These past few years, the last one in particular, she would sit there and only get about half of them right. I knew.

I watch now because I know she's up there still watching, and it's a special time her and I used to have together, so when I put it on now, I know she's sitting right here with me.

i bet your mom was one smart lady if she only missed by one, precious memories like that are a wonderful thing....forgot to mention in my post i went into labor while watching jeopardy, so i have a nice memory with it too.....

I used to like Jeopardy, but now it comes on too early in the day when I'm at work.

I used to do ok, but I was admittedly better when they had College Jeopardy and the questions were easier.

lol, i hear you, i do even better when they have the junior high children up there, imagine that one

Eh. I usually bomb when they switch to geography. I have a relative who went on the show and was promptly eliminated. The amusing thing is that episode was immortalized in the movie with Nicholas Cage and Rosie Perez. Everytime it's on I see him and chuckle.

Used to do real well at home, but don't watch tv at all now. I have found most folks that are good at Jep, are also pretty good at trivia, and they seem to be people that read a lot.

i used to read alot, but it was always fiction so that never helped me either, lol

Jeopardy is the best show on TV ... next to the CSI, Law and Order, and NFL football shows! Funny thing is ... my daughter was really on the show last Dec.

Depends on the Jeopardy show. Some nights I feel I could win because I knew most of the answers. Some nights, I don't know one damn answer.

LOL. Back in the 80's when the FOX channel first came out, and everyone was tuning in to General Hospital to see what Duke and Anna where going to do was when I started watching Jeopardy. There was a lounge room, and it was pretty unanimous that the channel be turned to Jeopardy. No one could get anything... we were all like 'who would know that.' This one girl must have been a History major or something, because she went on down the line and got an entire catagory correct. The reason that is so vivid in my mind is because everyone in the room applauded her lol.

i applaud myslef if i get one answer right lol

I enjoy Jeopardy but sometimes you think that the answers were already given to them when they rattle off 6 or 7 in a row. I just don't know how you can retain that much info. Now if it was only sports questions I might do better. I liked Millionaire better.

Greekgirl4u06 replies on 8/5/2006 2:27 pm:
i always wondered that myself, about some kind of cheat sheet they had prior to ro something....

ita! It's like here is a phone book sized list of answers and questions that will be on the show. So the contestants have time to study and memorize. Sometimes you see those people's eyes moving like they are reading, and you think- PHOTOGRAPHIC MEMORY. Then Alex totally demeans a contestant if they get the wrong answer. lol. He tells them the correct answer Twice "Ooooh I'm sorry. The correct answer is the red sea, the red sea. Pick again!"

I wish I could remember to watch it more often, on an average night I could get 20-25 correct, occasionally if they have my categories I could get 30+.
