To Mother's Day

This year for mother's day I reflect back on how miraculous it is to have kids, raise them well, and watch and be proud of them as they move through life. Watching my son this week has been super hard because he had such an emotional issue to deal with....and as usual has pulled through okay. For the first time since he became a cop, I faced the fear of the impact of that profession, and cried tears today thinking about another family who was buring their child, their spouse their mother today.

My mother's day gift is not something I get. It is something I give. For the past two years and again this year, I keep my grandkids for 5 days so that my son and his wife can go to biker week at Myrtle Beach. He works long and hard hours so that his kids can have their mom at home, and this is my small way of giving back to them all the sacrifices they make every day for their children. And I get a very special time with my two grandkids that is all my own to enjoy them, spoil them, and love them.

This year for mother's day, I am just very, very glad to still be the mother of two living children. I thank god that Monday is my son's normal day off work....the day the killing of the police officer took place, or he would have been right in the middle of it.

I pray though for two small children, ages 7 and 5, who won't have their mother tomorrow because of this senseless killing.

I thank my two wonderful kids for being a part of my life and for making life so special for me.

And I know that they thank you, Darling, for the wonderful life you gave them ... and the gifts you continue to bestow on them. I love you!
