Day 2 Vacation....on the beach and in the pool

Day 2 dawned bright and sunny......and HOT....did I already tell you June is not a good time to visit Bahamas?

AFter going to the breakfast buffet, I headed out for a spot around the pool. The pool water was nice, the beach was great. I got my first taste of salty, salty water, white sand and aquamarine water that you can see through. I spent awhile out on the beach, then came back to the pool. Several strawberry daquari's were consumed

Lunchtime I decided to just eat at the pool grill again, and a little later had some conch fritters....not bad....but not super either. About 2 o'clock, a shower came on and some thunder and lightning, so I headed back upstairs and showered. I took a short nap, and could feel the heat again in my room, looked out to see the shower had passed, so headed back down to the pool and beach. As I situated myself around the soaking pool, I looked up to see a young girl trying to faint/fall down. My nursing skills immediately perked up, but I watched for a minute. The security guard went over, and I watched while they tried to walk/carry a very floppy, very inebriated young lady from the pool. Ahhhhh....the draw of the free booze to young people.....but 3 o'clock in the afternoon?????? Geesh!

At 5 I headed upstairs since I had a dinner cruise booked for that nite. At 6:30, the bus picked us up, and I got my first look at downtown Nassau. Didn't really get to see much of the straw market, but saw where the cruise ships dock. We went over the bridge to Paradise Island, and I got to see What Atlantis looked like.......enormous!

We got on the boat, it left the dock, and we were cruising out of the harbor when these enormous homes came into view on the Paradise Island side. Some of the people explained that Opra and Micheal Jordon owned two of them.....mmmmm....definitely a case of someone having lots of money with the sizes of these homes.

Dinner was served, and the food was okay, but not as good as I thought it would be. Met some nice people from England, and a couple celebrating their 50th anniversary. After dinner I went up two decks to the sun deck and watched the sun set over the harbor before the boat turned around. This cruise wasn't an open bar....so I stuck to my bottled water and my one complimentary glass of wine. Time for the evening entertainment.

A calypso band played a few songs, encouraged people to dance.....many honeymooners on the cruise of course. That was followed by another fire dancer.....and the fire put off enough heat that as she moved around the perimeter of the dance floor, we could FEEL the heat. Of course she did the fire-eating thing, as well as flaming her skin down her legs and arms. Pretty amazing to watch.

The fire dancer was followed by a limbo dancer. This guy weighed all of 137 lbs, yet lifted up women weighing close to 200 pounds and moved under a flaming limbo stick with them. Watching him go through the flaming stick only 1 foot off the ground was neat as he dislocated his legs and had them facing the opposite direction and walked through on his hands. His end trick was moving under 6 flaming sticks that were all just a shoe length above the floor. For that one he blindfolded himself. The boat docked and back off to our bus we went.

Going back to the hotel was interesting, because it is Junkanoo festival time in Nassau, and we got to see many people carrying very colorful, very festive costumes....almost like a mardi gras carnival.

When we arrived back at the hotel, Funky and the Summer Breeze band were playing again, but since I had to be up at 8:15 in the morning for a day trip (I know pretty stupid on a vacation to get up that early), I turned in early that nite.

All in all a pretty relaxing day.....watching lots of hot guys walk around (okay, so most of them had females attached to their arms or rings on their finger)....but no one said looking and appreciating was a crime Didn't seem like I got a lot of sun though....how am I ever going to go home without a nice tan to brag about??????

I've never gotten to see a firedancer in person...sounds pretty cool.

To my knowledge looking is still NOT a crime! lol

The fire dancers are a big part of the culture there. I saw fire dancing on at least 3 or 4 different occasions.
