It's all about Dogs...get your mind outta the gutter

I'm getting a dog.

Well, some of you knew that already...but I'm actually picking the pooch up this morning. He's a 4.5 month old bassett hound, and he's adorable. I'm hoping his name is gonna be Shuffle, but we'll see how that goes...My mom seems to think that's a bad name for a dog. I kinda like it...although I'm going to check out some pet name sites in a bit.

I'm also getting a Dane in the early part of July, but his name has already been decided suggestions taken.

Some of my family, most of my friends, and tons of my coworkers think that dogs are a bad idea. I've had dogs for most of my life, with the last 5 years being the exception. My ex-wife had two pooches, but together they didn't weigh 40 lbs, so I don't count them as dogs as much as...evasive footballs. Little bastards. I like a dog that you KNOW is there, there's no stepping on it or tripping over it or accidentally putting it in the clothes dryer several times..a day... I want big honking dogs that are intimidating by just looking at them...which is kinda funny. The Great Dane is from a line of super sweet dogs who wouldn't hurt a fly, and I'm not going to raise it to be mean. The Bassett (oh, and for you naysayers, the mother of this bassett hound was 85lbs, and the father was don't think it's small) comes from a group of aggressive dogs that have been used to (get this) herd sheep and guard a ranch in Northern Wisconsin. Hardy har har. Big dog, big baby...short dog, big meanie...I think that's funny.

What else, what else. Oh, I've got a little drink date with a gent from on here on Saturday night (you know who you are) and I'm hoping it turns into a drink and Cigar date, because I've been wanting a good Nicaraguan cigar for some time now...

I'll keep everyone updated as if anyone reads this anyway (sigh)

Congrats on the dog. I have 2 bassetts myself and love them to death. I thought they would be really sweet too, which they are, but turns out they are stone cold killers! Mine have killed 1 rabbit, 2 cats, and 5 possum collectively.

OK, his name IS shuffle. Whether he likes it or not. Day 1 consisted of him shaking a lot and making no noise whatsoever. Everyone who saw him, of course, loved him to death. He's such an attention hound.

Where does one get a snood?

ah well, c'est la vie...he's gonna be huge though, in presence, in physical features, and in his own mind
