Heads Fucked Up.

Last night a 500 Kilo [1000 lb] World War 2 German bomb was spotted floating in the River Mersey. That's 60 years after the war is over.

Royal Navy bomb disposal experts and the coastgaurds are currently towing the bomb 8 miles out to sea, where they will carry out a controlled explosion. All ferries and shipping are at anchor or berth until the situation has been sorted out.

This news story has taken my memory back in time to my childhood.

I was brought up on horror stories of what it was like in the May blitz of 1941 in Liverpool.

While my Grandad was in an overseas hospital with three bullets in him, My Grandmother was running thru the streets of Liverpool to the nearest air raid shelter with my mother who was about 9 years of age and my aunt and uncle who were even younger, in tow.

One evening they could not make it to the air raid shelter and sought safety at our local church St Malachy's. They were directed to the large hall by the priest and found that their where already hundreds of people seeking shelter. Anyway the sirens went off and as the planes came over and began to drop their bombs, the priest told everybody to get down on the floor.

After the all clear siren went off, my Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Uncle where still alive, but many were dead. The church hall had taken a direct hit. The priest had lost his arm as the snooker table he was sitting under took the full force of the bomb. He was lucky most of the other people under the snooker table were dead,[women and children].

All thru my childhood I was to hear of many more such stories and of family members that were killed in the May blitz.

Liverpool was the second most bombed city in England. 4000 people lost their lives in the May blitz.

Even at school in the 1950's and 60's I was told horror stories by teachers. The Tv had documentaries on all the time about the war. Then in 1963 one teacher kept telling us that the Russians were going to nuke us because they were about to go to war with the Americans.

Our school [ST Malachy's] was very religious and the priest's would often take us for religious education. One priest told us that if we farted in public we would go to "Hell". How fucked up is that???

With all that shit that went on in the war, no wonder my Grandmother, Grandfather and Mother ended up being alcoholics. Their heads must of been fucked up.

I wonder if that is why my head is so fucked up???

At least I have my looks though.

The photo shows a building of a block of flats in the actual Street I was brought up in, in the 1950's and 60's. These flats were untouched by the bombs and were built about 1850 [demolished in 1960's].

Hey Hippie. Don't worry, I got no Herpes. Listen. Caall off the air raids, gather the ground troops, there's a battle I'm sure we both wanna see won. See my post called, IIIIIII haaaave a Dreeeeeam Read up to the last comment, and when you're done click on the link. There's a group of enemy soldiers flankin people blind with no diplomacy efforts whatsoever. There was this girl who was writing incest fantasies, not doin anyone any harm as far as I could tell. Aparently she had a few fans. I stuck up for her in the attacking post, since I feel everyone should have the right to express themselves however they want without fear of oppression from militant groups. Do what ya can to start an uprising. They can't take us all. Nonetheless be cautious with your tactics. They won't hesitate to take ya out like they did her. Any other soldiers of freedom out there wanna join the cause, we might just find out what kinda person notti nice was.
Remember be stealth about. I mighta fucked up already by defendin her, but then again I mighta ended the battle. It's too soon to say. Just be careful is all.
Red.

Also, just so ya know. I've deleted your name from the credits from my post called For the Love of WAR to shield ya from enemies who might try to tunnel their way to your fortress after attacking mine. Nonetheless, the generals orders are still affirmative.

Yeah that war may be over but wars will never ever be over though, sadly.

My mum grew up in Toxteth & Dad in Woolton. Dad was rich by the standards then as they lived on a farm & food wasnt scarce for them. Mum on the other hand felt the brunt of the war affects & was very poor.

It disturbs me to think of mum going without basic neccessities such as a of shoes or a clothes. All they had was the clothes they wore & a change for when the others got washed.

We & our children take so many things for granted but when my daughter hears mum saying they had to share one pair of roller skates as they couldnt afford a pair each she fills up. Mum has 3 sisters & they used to pair up & have one skate on a foot each. Then pass them to the other 2 sisters to have a go.

There idea of playing was in the bombed out buildings climbing the rubble...same with dad.

How lucky are we.

Phoe,

Ditto.

Your Mum must be a little older than me, but it is possible I know her or her family name. I also have cousins who moved out to Skem in the 60's. Some came back and some stayed.

Like your new photo.

Yeah, mums just turned 62 & dad will be 70 this year.

They moved to skem when i was 3 as the house we lived in was making me poorly.

Theyve been here ever since. Ive moved around a fair bit....bit of a nomad for a few years. Settled back here 12 years ago for my daughter to be near family.

Most of my relatives are still in liverpool. Childwall & Stoneycroft area mainly (Old Swan i believe that is isnt it).

Your family may well of known my family at some point as they have always been in the Toxteth area.

So Tony does my arse still look big pmsl.

Told you to take no notice of my moods Phoe. I was having an off day when I made that original comment in your blog. All your pals then attacked me so I had to retaliate. It seems I made a lot of enemies, but I do have a tendency to put my foot in it.

You have a lovely arse, but not as nice as mine. lol
