To Become a Dream

This poem was inspired by a dream I had last night. I usually don't remember much of what I dream but this dream was very vivid, in color and very detailed. I have been really missing my mother here lately and in the dream she was alive again and had showed up at a restaurant where all of her children were eating. The really strange thing was that no one reacted to her being there. They talked and laughed and carried on just like everything was normal. Just like they would have before she died. I was the only one sitting in a corner and crying. In my dream one of my brothers came over to me and asked me what was wrong and I told him, "This whole situation is wrong". "Mom is not here, she can't be". "She is dead and has been dead since March 18th 2005". My brother frowned and said, "I don't know why you think that, but we will go talk with mom in a bit". He left and my attention was drawn to a man sitting in the corner of the room. He was clean if not somewhat shabbily dressed. He had such a sad lonely look on his face. I heard the waitress mutter about homeless people taking every opportunity to get a hand out.

I glanced back at the family celebration going on around me. Everyone was having a good time but me, when into the room walks Sarah and Jeremiah back from their honeymoon. They go over to mom and join right in with the laughter and joking around the dinner table. I decide that enough is enough and this is just too bizarre. I get up and start walking towards mom. Then in the strange way that dreams do, everyone froze what they were doing as mom turned to look straight at me.
"Everything will be all right, Becky". Then pointing to the strange man she said, "Use your talents and abilities wisely". "I am proud of you my daughter."

I went running towards mom with my arms open wide to hug and kiss her when suddenly I jerked and woke up. I wiped the tears from my face and got up to begin the new day.

To Become a Dream

I want to become a dream
And walk with the wind,
To touch the face of a lonely man,
And then become his friend
I would show him the greater things,
Love not sorrow,
And then show him the weaknesses,
Of now and tomorrow,
And then it will be all over,
And I will have done my job,
I will have taught the lonely man,
To laugh instead of sob,
And this would only be possible,
If only it would seem,
The way that I would change the world,
If only I were a dream

I do not have the ability to interperet dreams So, I want to know. Do you have dreams? Did you remember them? Did the dream become reality?

your poem is lovely - poignant

i do remember some of my dreams, and yes a few have truly become a reality at least in some sense.

your mom is celebrating you - smiles - that's such a gift

You cannot conceive the many without the one.

Do you have dreams? Yes but very seldom.
Did you remember them? Very rarely but if i do remember they are usually erotic.
Did the dream become reality? No dream has ever become a reality.

Thank you WE..I'm glad that you enjoyed my poem. I have read that the dead can use dreams to communicate with us. So, maybe mom was looking down from heaven, seeing how much I miss her and entered my dream to reassure me.

Do you have dreams? Did you remember them? Did the dream become reality? yes, yes, and yes a few have come true some in unexpected ways....but if it is a reoccuring dream it usually does come true.

Chelle, I have two reoccurring dreams. They started about seven years ago and they both involve aspects of BDSM. If you are interested I will tell you sometime. So far these reoccurring dreams have not come true.
