Clueless

I had a close call while going to work last night. I was almost hit by an SUV. The light was yellow and so I went on through the intersection and over the bridge where the second light was also yellow. I continued on when to my right a car exiting from the freeway and onto the street suddenly turned right and across two lanes of traffic coming right at me. I slammed on my brakes, burned rubber off my tires and steered into the left turn lane to avoid a collision. Our two vehicles still scraped, I heard it.

The woman driver of the SUV stopped and got out immediately and came over to me.
I rolled down the window and reassured her that I was all right just shaken up. We both drove our vehicles over to a near by parking lot and got out to inspect the damaged. I had scrape or rub marks on mine little Lumina. She had a sizable dent in her left bumper. I also noticed there were several other dents and scrapes in her car. It looked like she had been in several recent accidents.

We talked about the accident and she said that she thought you could turn right on a red light. Well, yes, but you have to stop first and look both ways! Duh! This woman was an older driver but not that old, perhaps in her mid fifties. She was just clueless about driving safely as she never looked both ways and didn’t even try slowing down. While my mouth dropped open in amazement she tried to justify her actions. She even went so far as to say, “I always drive this way”!! OMG! She always drives that way???

We talked some more and both decide not to call the police or exchange insurance information. Especially since both of the scrape marks she left on my car came right off when I rubbed on them with my hand. The woman said she would take care of any damages to her SUV because she probably would have more! She is expecting to be in more accidents, because she always drives clueless? That’s totally unbelievable.

As she got I her vehicle and drove off, narrowly missing hitting a curb, I had to shake my head in amazement. I sure hope I don’t come across her again.

Have you met any clueless drivers? What kind of a driver are you, fast and furious or steady and safe?

So far, i have been lucky to have a great driving record. I was rear-ended twice, and been a victim of a hit and run. I don't even leave my cell on. It has just been a matter of routine to try to be as friendly and safe as possible when i get behind the wheel. Glad you escaped a potentially bad situation. HUG=GASMS!!!

Somehow I've adjusted to all life's other changes, so I suppose I could adjust to being dead.

Oh, I'm a fast and furious driver. I have never been in an accident, and now, I just realized I have jinxed myself. Great. Anyway, I got a Mustang that I dropped a blower and some other modifications into, and I love to let it loose on back roads. Never in town, or around other folks.

Amazing...

The weirdest for me was when I was in my mid 20s... I was hit by a guy go straight through an intesection after a light turned green. He was coming straight across from the other side... and suddenly at the last moment swung his car into me. I got out of my car... swearing... and pissed. He got out... and said something like, "Why are you folling me. Stopingg following me!!!!" A few people were around and surrounded us... and this guy... clearly paranoid and nuts went on and on about how I was following him to get his secret information, and that I was from the CIA. Just totally nuts. The police came. I told him my story. After 45 minutes of questioning both of us... they let him go. Scary shit.

Actually...i love going fast in a car . Put the top down..feel the wind blowing in my hair and across my face..laughing at the sheer thrill of moving through time and space.

BUT..only when someone else is driving!
