" ...the Baroness Broadcasting Bureau Presents: Let's Get Meta-physical! "

[post 497875], posted on magahee77 by magahee77 and magahee77 plus the rest of the entourage...doesn't like the definition of 'Destiny'. We will see concepts of microcosm and macrocosm, Deification and its nature, and the dichotomy of Fate and Free Will. {I also have to find and read 'Time, Fate and Spider Magicks' and/or 'A Brief HirStory of TimEmiT fo yrotSriH feirB A' by Orryelle that popped up as I was doing some online research on all this.} We have already long ago been given Arachne, who was a mortal weaver in Ancient Greece; her weaving contest with the Goddess Athena culminates with her being turned into a spider and yet her subsequent elevation to the stars where she became the mysterious 13th zodiac sign {and lunar Goddess of Fate and Chaos}. So we were long ago also given the 'answer' to the 'riddle' of 'Destiny', 'Fate', and 'Synchronicity'.

Destiny des·ti·ny {dĕs'tə-nē} n., pl. -nies. The inevitable or necessary fate to which a particular person or thing is destined; one's lot. A predetermined {inevitable} course of events considered as something beyond human power or control. The power or agency thought to predetermine events. Middle destine, from Old French destinee, from feminine past participle of destiner, to destine, from Latin dēstināre, to determine. Synonyms: fate, fortune, kismet, lot, portion, predestination, luck, circumstances. See certain/uncertain. Antonyms: choice, free will, volition. {Your overall circumstances or condition in life, including everything that happens to you.}

Fate (fāt) n. The supposed force, principle, or power that predetermines events. The inevitable events predestined by this force. A final result or consequence; an outcome. Unfavorable destiny; doom. Your overall circumstances or condition in life, including everything that happens to you. {'The Fates' in Greek & Roman Mythology; the 3 goddesses Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos, who control human destiny.} Middle English, from Old French fat, from Latin fātum, prophecy, doom, from neuter past participle of fārī, to speak. Synonyms: destiny, fortune, kismet, lot, portion, predestination. See certain/uncertain. A predestined tragic end: doom. See certain/uncertain, live/die, luck/misfortune/chance, start/end. {As a verb, to determine the future of in advance: destine, foreordain, predestinate, predestine, predetermine, preordain. As a verb it has one meaning, decree or designate beforehand, with synonyms destine, doom, and designate.} In addition to the idioms with fate, also see seal one's fate, tempt fate, and fate worse than death. Synonym: destiny, fortune, luck, lot, circumstances, portion.

Some believe that 'Destiny', and therefore 'Fate', are one and the same in meaning and results...a type of 'fixed timeline' of events, those of which are events inevitable, unchangeable, and predetermined. Those people believe that they choose their own destiny, however, by choosing different paths throughout their lives but that {in the end} they were meant to choose the path{s} they chose. I consider this to be a type of 'spider web' theory...in that the outcome is certain...but to my way of thinking it is so because it is death, the hereafter, and so on. The multiple paths, pathways and byways of a spider web all going inward to the grand finale. In getting to one's destination, however...there are many paths and cross paths and pathways and intersections. So, therefore, there is also 'Synchronicity' syn·chro·nic·i·ty {sĭng'krə-nĭs'ĭ-tē, sĭn'-} n., pl. -ties, the state or fact of being synchronous or simultaneous; synchronism, and the coincidence of events that seem to be meaningfully related {conceived in Jungian theory as an explanatory principle on the same order as causality.}. The noun synchronicity has one meaning, the relation that exists when things occur at the same time. Synonyms: synchronism, synchrony, synchroneity, synchronization, synchronisation, and synchronizing.

This Jungian theory is an explanatory principle on the same order as causality. Carl Jung coined the term to describe the "temporally coincident occurrences of acausal events." which he spoke of "acausal connecting principle" {meaning a pattern of connection that could not and can not be explained by direct causality}. To try to put it plainly, synchronicity is the experience of having two or more things/events happen coincidentally in a manner that is meaningful to the person{s} experiencing them where the meaning suggests an underlying pattern. It is different than coincidence in that synchronicity implies not merely happenstance but an underlying pattern/dynamic that is being expressed through meaningful relationships or events. Jung felt this principle encompassed his concepts of archetypes and the collective unconscious, because it was descriptive of a
governing dynamic underlaying the whole human experience and history–social, emotional, psychological, and spiritual. He firmly believed that many experiences perceived as coincidence were due not merely to chance, but instead the manifestation of parallel events or circumstances reflecting this governing dynamic. {Basically 'shit happens' and if you are paying attention one thing will lead to another and yet another, in connection...and you will see and understand the meaning/meanings.}

A recent study by part of the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Lab suggested a small though statistically measurable link between human thought and patterns that occuring in random data sets. There is no evidence as to whether this is caused by individuals unintentionally recognizing complex patterns and
then moulding their thoughts towards an unconsciously known result or the thoughts of the individual are themselves affecting the random patterns in a manner of individuation. This study's results have not been replicated, however, and of course its methodologies are disputed. Criticism mostly seems to be due, as
in other things of this type, due to not being testable according to the classical scientific method. Since testing does not therefore 'relate' well to 'regular/standard' scientific testing, it is not widely regarded as scientific at all, but rather as pseudoscientific or an example of magical thinking. It is doubtful Jung would have considered the theory to be scientifically testable, however. Probability theory can attempt to explain events in our normal world, without any interference by any universal alignment forces, but the correct variables required for actually computing the probability cannot be found.

This is not to say that synchronicity is not a good model for describing a certain kind of human experience, but according to the 'scientific method' it is a reason for the refusal of the idea that synchronicity should be considered a 'hard fact' {an actually existing principle of our universe}. Supporters of the synchronicity theory claim that since 'scientific method' is applicable only to those phenomena that are reproducible, independent of observer and quantifiable, the argument that synchronicity is ot 'scientifically provable' should be considered a red herring {as, by definition, synchronistic events are not independent of the observer, since the observer's unique history is precisely what gives the synchronistic event meaning for the observer; a synchronistic event appears like just another meaningless 'random' event to anyone else without the unique prior history which correlates to the event}. This reasoning claims that the principle of synchronicity raises the question of the subjectivity of significance and meaning in the sequence of natural events.

Those who have experienced a near-death experience or mystical awakenings {such as kundalini awakenings} report an increase in synchronistic events happening to them. This is also common in the study of mystical symbol systems such as Kabbalah. A religious analogy of this experience might be attributed to the fulfillment of prayer or miracles, but Jung did not describe it in these terms. Correlation can also be described as an 'acausal connecting principle' and so has been proposed as an analogy to the phenomenon of synchronicity. Though correlation does not necessarily imply causation, correlation may in fact be a
physical property shared by events without there being a classical cause-effect relationship, as shown in quantum physics, where widely separated events can be correlated without being linked by a direct physical cause-effect {see nonlocality, EPR paradox}. Synchronicity has been proposed as a corollary phenomenon of the many-worlds or parallel universes theory of quantum physics, in that the subject is somehow 'navigating' to those particular alternate worlds that are correlated to their past history, among the myriad possible other worlds that are not as correlated to their past history. Although this idea has made it into the popular press, it is considered pseudoscience by most scientists as the parallel universe theory states that all possible futures exist simultaneously, therefore the subject indeed lives out all possible futures in parallel. In Synchronicity in the final two pages of the Conclusion, Jung stated that not all coincidences are meaningful and further explained the creative causes of this phenomenon. Jung defined the collective unconscious as akin to instincts in Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious.

In the role playing game d20 Modern, the supplement Urban Arcana features a spell known as 'Synchronicity' which subtly alters the laws of reality to make the mundanities of life more convenient for the caster, such as altering bus and taxi schedules so that they always appear within a maximum of four minutes after the caster begins waiting for one, and subtly moving pedestrians on crowded streets out of the way of the caster. A similar effect is delivered by the Felix Felicis potion in the Harry Potter book series. John Constantine, the main character in the Vertigo Comics series Hellblazer, is sometimes seen "riding the synchronicity highway," to meet certain goals or even just to one up those around him. This has the same effect as that described in this article, and it is one of John Constantine's more unique tricks, and art of what makes him so dangerous. He is also seen doing this in Books of Magic, the graphic novel by Neil Gaiman. The phenomenon is also explored, though not named in "The Red Notebook" by Paul Auster. In the 1983 release Synchronicity by The Police, Sting is reading a copy of Jung's Synchronicity on the front cover along with a negative/superimposed image of the actual text of the synchronicity hypothesis. A photo on the back cover also shows a close-up but mirrored and upside-down image of the book. There are two songs titled "Synchronicity I" and "Synchronicity II" included in the album.

In the 1976 film The Eagle Has Landed, the character Max Radl (Robert Duvall) asks a subordinate if he is familiar with the works of Jung, and then explains the theory of Synchronicity. He also tells a cautionary tale of not reading too much into supposed synchronicity, commenting that "a wink from a pretty girl at a party rarely results in climax...but a man is a fool not to push a suggestion as far as it will go!" The Dirk Gently series of books by Douglas Adams often plays on the synchronicity concept. The main character carries a "pocket I Ching" that also functions as a calculator, up to a point. {The I Ching is a type of oracle, or 'synchronicity computer', used for divination.} Littlewood's Law states that individuals can expect a miracle to happen to them at the rate of about one per month. The Pauli effect refers to the mysterious failure of technical equipment in the presence of certain people. Serendipity is the act of finding something unexpected and useful while searching for something else entirely. The 23 enigma is the belief that the number 23 is of particular or unusual significance, especially in relation to disasters. The Dark Side of the Rainbow is the effect created by playing the Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon simultaneously with the film The Wizard of Oz.

Nederlands (Dutch) synchronisatie, Français (French) synchronisme, Deutsch (German) Synchronität, Ελληνική (Greek) (καθομ.) συγχρονικότητα, Italiano (Italian) sincronismo, Português (Portuguese) sincronização (f), Español (Spanish) sincronicidad, simultaneidad, Svenska (Swedish) synkronicitet

Liken synchronicity to uncanny coincidence, where an unlikely conjuction of events...happens, together or in relation to each other also in relation to the person it is happening to, of course. Also referred to as 'Serendipity', it is such as thinking of someone for the first time in ages then running into them a relatively short time later. You hear or see an unusual phrase or song or what have you, then you hear it again a couple of more times basically right away. In a strange place you bump into an old college roommate, or a book falls off the shelf and it's exactly what you need. We commonly call such happenstances 'coincidences', but they are much more powerful and meaningful to our lives than most of us realize. Those who 'believe' in all this also believe that these 'coincidences' are testimonies of a universal spirit operating and communicating with all its creatures {anywhere, any time, and often simultaneously}. The entire universe is linked and tied together more than most can even imagine...typified by 'Man' {a microcosm of the universe which is the macrocosm}. There is some unseen force or power coordinating the simultaneity of events, so that even someone such as Hippocrates said, "There is one common flow, one common breathing, all things are in sympathy. The whole organism and each one of its parts are working in conjunction for the same purpose... the great principle extends to the extremest part, and from the extremest part it returns to the great principle, to the one nature, being and not-being."

Again, synchronistic events have been going on from ancient to modern times. This 'force' behind these events is considered 'SPIRIT' (YAHWEH) who is orchestrating our life’s journey, causing coincidences to occur in our lives, and thereby validating a universal 'flow' or 'spirit' we can all tap into. It is possible to become one with this 'flow', to be lead and guided by it, in every phase of our lives. To ponder what these experiences can teach us and how they can enrich our lives is one of the main goals and achievements. Webster’s defines coincidence as a coinciding, an accidental occurrence of related or identical events, ideas, etc., at the same time. To coincide means to take up the same place in space, and/or to occur at the same time. Psychiatrist Carl Jung termed 'Synchronicity' as ‘an acausal connecting principle’ that links seemingly unrelated and unconnected events. The concept is integral to Eastern thought, but in Western thought runs contrary to cause and effect. In the West, ‘coincidences’ are popularly discounted as ‘chance happenings.’ The concept of synchronicity was developed largely by Carl G. Jung, who credited Albert Einstein {a contemporary} as his inspiration." During his lifetime he had some paranormal experiences of his own, and was 'sparked' to develop his ideas on synchronicity through his encounters with Einstein.

Jung’s own explanation of the concept of synchronicity is as follows: "As its etymology shows, this term has something to do with time, or to be more accurate, with a kind of simultaneity. Instead of simultaneity we could use the concept of a meaningful coincidence of two or more events, where something other than the probability of chance is involved." Jung, about the chance occurrence of coincidences, had been studying synchronicity since the middle twenties, when he was investigating the phenomena of the collective unconscious and kept on coming across connections which he simply could not explain: "as chance groupings or ‘runs.’ What I found were ‘coincidences’ which were connected so meaningfully that their ‘chance’ concurrence would represent a degree of improbability that would have to be expressed by an astronomical figure." The universal principles/concepts synchronicity is based on is the concept that everything in the universe has some kind of correspondence one to the other. There is a "classical idea of the sympathy of all things." There is a link, a bond, and even so-called inanimate objects have a form of communication. In other words the whole universe is a living breathing entity and its various life forms {in all the kingdoms including animal, plant, mineral, human, etcetera) are not as removed from each other as previously thought. In support of Hippocrates Jung said: "The universal principle is found even in the smallest particle, which therefore corresponds to the whole."

The 'scientific theory' to support synchronicity is "...they are finding that the isolation and separation of objects from each other is more apparent than real; at deeper levels, everything -- atoms, cells, molecules, plants, animals, people -- participates in a sensitive, flowing web of information. Physicists have shown, for example, that if two photons are separated, no matter by how far, a change in one creates a simultaneous change in the other." Many Eastern philosophies have had a concept of 'Synchronicity' before the Western mind set fully accepted it. "These coincidences, which Jung termed synchronicity, are sure signs you are 'in the flow'; 'Flow' is a harmony of being that has been sought after through the centuries in the spiritual traditions of the world. In the West, flow has been linked to trust, surrender, unconditional love, the grace of God. In the East, it has been linked to the Tao, the underlying interconnectedness of the Universe. In our lives, 'flow' is obvious in those times when things happen effortlessly, everything falls into place, obstacles melt away, and our timing is perfect. In those times, we feel a deep sense of harmony and underlying order. We know we are in the right place, at the right time, doing exactly the right thing." One modern day belief/encounter with this is The Celestine Prophecy {James Redfield}, which although it is a fictional story has a basis in modern synchronicity. In his book the First Insight occurs occurs when we become conscious of the coincidences in our lives. "...she continued, 'according to the priest, these coincidences are happening more and more frequently and that, when they do, they strike us as beyond what would be expected by pure chance. They feel destined, as though our lives had been guided by some unexplained force." So can a dream and reality occur simultaneously, and can two people have the same thought at the same time?

What about synchronicity and intuition? "At first blush, synchronicity and intuition seem to be separate phenomena." 'Synchronicity' happens 'out there', against the odds, when something in the universe seems to swing into place to answer and inner need. 'Intuition happens 'in here', as an inner 'knowing', when there is an ability to tune into knowledge in a nonrational, nonlinear way. {We know something but we don’t know how we know it.} Jung’s definition of synchronicity clearly incorporates precognition and clairvoyance, which to some are also types of intuition. David Spangler {author, teacher, etcetera} believes the two have many underlying similarities, saying "Intuition is another form of synchronicity: When I intuit something, there’s no apparent cause-and-effect relationship between my knowledge and how I got the knowledge." "Likewise, synchronicity is precipitated intuition: we know of a connection not inwardly but outwardly, through action and perception. In both cases, the pattern carries the same message: we live in a world more intricately and holistically organized than we may ever have previously supposed." Some say spiritual principles/lessons can be gleaned from encounters with synchronicity, where faith and hope in a higher power is leading and guiding us, a power higher than man. The realization that spirit communicates with its creatures, anywhere, anytime and is capable of communicating with more than one person at the same time.

We also find that life principles and life lessons are often taught through coincidences. Questions are sometimes answered synchronistically, although sometimes more subtle and dreamlike, containing metaphors and allegories that teach us. Coincidences can happen in the midst of a personal crisis or when you are deeply caught up or focused on something as if your thoughts are willing into materialization exactly what you need and the circumstances/situations to provide it; falling in love, meditation, contemplative prayer and the like seem to stir it up. "Synchronicities are sometimes regarded as signs, and some people consciously use them to make decisions in life. In the novel The Celestine Prophecy, a bestseller which thrust synchronicity into the public consciousness, James Redfield says that all coincidences are significant because they point the way to an unfolding of our personal destiny."

Conclusion: Synchronicity surfaces more and more in your life as you begin to experience the power of the spirit within you. Via synchronistic experiences {or coincidences} in life we begin to realize that we are all inter connected regardless of time and space. Following your intuition {direct knowing} also often results in events coming together, allowing accomplishments in life somehow seem to happen without you consciously directing or controlling it. Synchronicity, then, is another manifestation of the power latent in man to lead and guide us if we would only listen to the voice. The voice is a guide...but not a demanding one; we are offered the choice of many paths to follow to travel where we want or need to be.

Exactly what drugs are you on?
Are they easy to get? Got any to spare?
I REALLY would like to try some.
Please?
It MUST be fun!

I lost my naivete, but not my innocence nor my wonder at the world that I am connected to. Do you still jump in puddles when you see their shallowness taunting you? Do you still make 'daisy chains' to wear upon your head? Do you still hold your arms out on a wonderfully windy, breezy day and let your mind soar up to through the clouds? Do you envision the pot of gold and life's mysteries explained at the end of the rainbow after a rain shower that you danced in? Do you marvel at a spider's web...its workmanship and its beauty, both so intricate? And if not...why not?

I will never forget The Keys...sitting on a patio on the main street in Key West with the coldness of a Key West Sunset beer in my hand chilling my lips while the rest of my skin soaked in the lingering warmth of the setting sun that was yet glowing in defiance of the end of another beautiful day but the beginning of an everlasting memory....

I hate to break it to you...but it's all natural. So unless you are a vampire or otherwise a blood-sucking doctor of some sort, you are S.O.O.L. Maybe it transfers through sex? It is fun, most of the time...welcome to my world...it's a bit weird...but it's hardly ever boring!

I think you're serious...

believing in something that's not there just gets you put in the looney bin, if anyone else is paying attention... (if no one is paying any attention, you can believe in, or do, anything you fucking well please.....)

next thing you're going to try to tell me is to believe in the power of prayer...

Yes.

Been into this for a while.

The more one is tuned into it, the more interesting stuff happens.

Putting in the windows the other day needed something to wedge and frame them to the mud walls, went scrounging and found too old 2x4s in the trash pile...just the right weathered look...and they fit perfectly...2 of them.

Thinking about people and they pop up on the phone or email.

Something lands and don't know what it is or why...then the other piece drops...like effect coming before cause...

The "scienfific" attempts are so much bullshit...in a 14 dimensional universe that denies the existance of 11 of them, how could they "see" this....but one can sure as heck live it and enjoy.

This from some who gets regularly lecturted by his chickens...

Do you realize that dogs are color blind basically? Now, pretend you are a dog...but you can see colors....

Believing in something that is not there for OTHERS or that they do not see...does not mean the 'thing' is not there, it's merely unseen or unnoticed by some. As for attention...it matters not, in any form...for when we are what we are...and demand others to recognize {not necessarily accept except in being let alone at least to enjoy the right of being who we are}...others will at the very least recognize us for us, and at some point even 'accept' it...while we continue on our path.

prayer (prâr) n. A reverent petition made to God, a god, or another object of worship. The act of making a reverent petition to God, a god, or another object of worship. An act of communion with God, a god, or another object of worship, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving. A fervent request: Her prayer for rain was granted at last. The thing requested: His safe arrival was their only prayer. The slightest chance or hope: In a storm the mountain climbers won't have a prayer. [Middle English preiere, from Old French, from Medieval Latin precāria, from feminine of Latin precārius, obtained by entreaty, from precārī, to entreat. See pray.]
noun The act of praying: invocation, supplication. See religion.
A formula of words used in praying: collect, litany, orison, rogation (often used in plural). See religion. An earnest or urgent request: appeal, entreaty, imploration, plea, supplication. See ask/answer. An application to a higher authority, as for sanction or a decision: appeal, petition. See ask/answer, law.

Quotes: Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you. - St. Augustine; To pray is to pay attention to something or someone other than oneself. Whenever a man so concentrates his attention -- on a landscape, a poem, a geometrical problem, an idol, or the True God -- that he completely forgets his own ego and desires, he is praying. The primary task of the schoolteacher is to teach children, in a secular context, the technique of prayer. - W. H. Auden; Trouble and perplexity drive us to prayer, and prayer driveth away trouble and perplexity. – Philipp Melanchthon (1497-1560), German humanist and theological reformer.

So YOU pray all the time...and sometimes you get what you want, sometimes you get what you need, and sometimes those are actually the same thing. Unanswered prayers, hun, aren't necessarily a bad thing sometimes....

(give it to me in CAPS)

PS: Will you prey on me?

Yes.

NO!

I'll think about it.

It's all right Divvies...it'll come to you sooner or later {hopefully sooner} as we all need universal, personal understanding. What do you mean by post whores {is that one or two words, btw}? Let's see...magahee is posting lighthearted things and his personal experiences on his personal blog and huny...well, dangit if'n she ain't doing the same except she also posts quite a bit of serious stuff...so, what problem do you have now, with these two people? Tsk, Divvies, you're beginning to seem like you're tilting at windmills!

I finished reading The Celestine Prophecy a few minutes ago, and was wondering ...how to "connect" with others... ...i have only been on AdultFriendFinder for 12 weeks or so, and while playing fool in this ocean of madness i was looking for some wisdom or conscienciousness...inspired by the likes of Jung or Wilhelm Reich and others... and having quizzed the blog search engine for "redfield", here i land... Thank you for your post and Pleased to meet you BaronessK ..and also EroticaXTC...

Have you read all of them? There should be, let me think...I bought them all but a friend borrowed them and the git hasn't given them back yet...3 with a 4th 'final' and a 'workbook'...and maybe even one more. Erotica still has her blog up and all, but mine...well as my last post {142 after deleting, etcetera} said, I let the blog stand as is, as long as it stands. There were accusations of fake pictures...and I have 20 up, all definitely the same person -- although some are rather good as I was dating a professional photographer at the time most of them were taken. At any rate, it took close to a month to get this one up and in the meantime I started another blog under another handle -- AmericanBaroness. Feel free to pop in -- sometimes I get serious; the next post up, in fact, that I'm about to post up is about the 5 Love Languages and that sort of thing. See you around the blogs....
