Wedding No3 (part1)

This was a wedding that I was dreading. However, the friend (the bride) getting married had seen me thru some times in the past and as a loyal friend you do it. After the first 2 elegant debacucles from hell, I think it made me wedding shy forever. Her family ran a bridal/formal shop for years, so I was curious just to see what exactly she would pick for her wedding after seeing literally thousands of them over the years.

The back story on her wedding was the bride and groom had gone out a few years back. It was a good relationship, which was different than the past luck with men, however as men do, they think they can do better and that attitude clashed with her no-nonsense style. So it basically ended in her true fashion, "when u get your shit together, come find me" And for 3 years that was that.

Fast forward the would-be groom is in the hospital with a poisonous spider bite. A nasty one. The one that makes u re-think what u have done in your life. He remembered his times with her and realized that the smoothest his life ever had been was with her. And he realized he let the best one get away. He called his sister by his bedside and told her to find her as fast as she could not to waste another moment.

She eventually found her, and the two reconciled. She was the happiest I had ever seen her be. Her soulmate. He looked a lot like her father that passed away a few years im glad she found someone just like ol dad. He was a great man.

She had a country wedding. It was wonderful. It wasn't like the last 2 at all. 2 guys that looked like Cooter and Luke Duke from Hazzard were directing parking. I parked in an adjacent field full of weeds. Said hi to the neighbor cat. Navigating the pot holes and dried grass burrs from slipping into my sandals. I wore a black top, black skirt with red snakeskin print with crystal beaded fringe. Guys love the way fringe moves.

As I reach the house of her brother in -laws backyard that was all fixed up..the heat began to really hit me. (damn there goes my makeup sliding down my face) I stop by the bridesmaid's desk, pick up a program/hand fan , (good move girl) bubbles (ya a wedding yanno) and the guys get handed a plastic racing flag (ok huh whatever) and lament on where to sit. I cant be in the sun as ill burn, and with an impending photo shoot, I know they wouldn't be too pleased with the red lobster look. I nicely ask to be moved to the back corner in the shade and like the other guests, help myself to a big frosty mug of his home brewed beer. Why not? The proper ones had ben such a drag..Im beginning to dig this one..Must be the country girl in me.. ooh and the groomsman..he's drinking too..cutie pie.. *I smile* as he escorts me to my seat. He looks me up and down and smiles.. he's on the hook.

Sounds like a cool wedding so far... How bad could it go with Cooter and Bo and Luke?
