A Guy Thing?

Think about it... What experiences or behaviors in life are really and truly unique to one of the sexes?

The only one that comes to mind is bearing children. And even in that case, there are women that either choose not to, or cannot have children.

Breast cancer? Black dress and stiletto heels? Standing up to pee? Beer and brats at a sports bar? Feeling hurt when you get stood up? Penetration? Falling in love? Serving in the military? The list is endless.

I would agree that men (or women) are certainly more likely to do some of those things than others. However, none of them are uniquely male or female.

So, when someone says "It's a man thing" or "It's a woman thing", it isn't really... so when someone says to me that its OK to be rude to someone else, or behave a certain way, or hurt someone's feelings, because it is a guy thing, or a girl thing... well, that's not OK with me.

My opinion on that is when someone says "it's a guy thing" or "it's a girl thing" it's a basic cop out. We each have to atone for our own actions and be an adult otherwise we would be immature for the rest of our lives using excuses.

My opinion is that when someone uses the term "it's a guy thing" or "it's a girl thing" it's a cop-out. We each have to atone for our own actions and be an adult. By saying these terms it is just an excuse.

I see that in the same general category as childbearing. Don't get me started on the whole mood swing/PMS thing...
