1st Date: Take a chance or tell him/her to take a hike?

Ok,....this can actually go for a male or female! ~ You talk, you like, your curious....you set up a day for a date, you leave it to confirm the day before. NO CALL - the day before or the day of! ~~ He/She apologises profusely and says they were sick and says lets set up a definite date now. Ok, you agree (hey, things happen, being flexible is a good thing) ~ you agree to setting up another date....he/she is very excited to have a chance to meet....the evening comes, your ready to walk out the door and the phone rings....its him/her...."Hey how are you?!" Your stomach sinks now because you've rushed home from work and showered and ready to walk out the door to be ON TIME! ~ You say "hey I'm great, where are you?" He/she then says, "hey, I just walked in and I need to take a shower so I don't stink when I meet your beautiful smiling face. I'm sorry but I've been driving for the last 1/2 hour and my shirt is sweaty and wet. I should be there in about 45 minutes and I'll take the quickest route there"...(ok, you know he/she lives that far away to begin with!) ~ Soooo, question here is,....What would you do?!
You make the best of it and meet despite the fact that its the second strike (or red flag!), see how it goes anyway
Do you say, "Sorry, we'll have to try again some other time"
Do you say, "Look, this isn't working for me, best of luck to you"
Do you say, "I feel this is very disrespectful considering the circumstances and don't care to meet now"
Other - please, would love to hear your comments on what you would do!

First impressions are important. One delay is understandable. But two. I'd have to say it's not meant to be.

If you were my homework, I'd do you everyday, in every possible way.

I agree with susie but I would also add that when you do meet, you make it clear that you will not stand for such behaviour again. Period. You deserve respect and leaving people waiting is not respectful. At least they rang and told you while you were still home and that does count for something.

You give them a chance, but realize they will do it again. Two strikes is more than halway out. Though it's fine if at some point they give a real reason.

You gotta give him the benefit of the doubt in this case. Sure its a last second call, but he seems to be doing this in your best interest. There are always 3 strikes to an out in my opinion, this second one looked like a foul ball, but at least he informed you instead of left you hanging or stood you up.
