Democracy... a bad thing?

My last blog post had a political tone to it. I am split down the middle with whether I dare open another can of worms. But it seems perhaps democracy isn't the choice by some and I would like to know what is better and why. Anyone care to help enlighten me?

Here is the definition of democracy per Merriam-Webster Dictionary...

Pronunciation: di-'mä-kr&-sE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural -cies
Etymology: Middle French democratie, from Late Latin democratia, from Greek dEmokratia, from dEmos + -kratia -cracy
1 a : government by the people; especially : rule of the majority b : a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections
2 : a political unit that has a democratic government
3 capitalized : the principles and policies of the Democratic party in the U.S.
4 : the common people especially when constituting the source of political authority
5 : the absence of hereditary or arbitrary class distinctions or privileges

OK! I am a veteran! The reason I bring that up is because I have actually fought for our government, and think what I say should be respected if not agreed up on!
We have lost rights in the last few years. I think our government Is the best money can buy.

I think we have lost touch with the freedoms our forefathers ( and formothers) fought to get!

As Ben Franklin said.. a revolution ever twenty years or so is necessary to keep government in check!

We really need to kick everyone out of office, put new people in. That’s not going to happen! We are not brave enough!

I think all laws should expire every 7 years. Keep are lawmakers busy choosing what laws to keep instead of passing new ones all the time.

We should limit terms in all government posts to two terms! Let’s get rid of all these old fogies! Hell Kennedy has been in office since I was 17.. I am 53 now!

You know these guys, mostly guys, give themselves raises, and healthcare benefits that blow the regular citizens away.

If we were brave we would vote them all out of office!

2ofusfor3: The only point that I can offer is that in a democracy we should expect to be represented by our officals, but in both our countries we find that civil liberties are being stripped away for the benefit of government & big business. They common person faces financial & pillage at the hands of a few.
My thoughts on democracy & how it enslaves us could take years to fully explore, but suffice to say that it is failing to make the grade of those who live under it's umbrella.

should I fear the future as some suggest? What are your predictions? More input!

Thank you thank you.

2ofusfor3: I think we need to examine '1984' to see the potential of what could result & work to ensure that it never happens.
Make your government officials work for you, to uphold your desires, not the other way around.
