My best friend

Is my dog...she is 3 years old...I adopted her after she and her 5 brothers and sisters were abandoned In a park in the middle of winter...One look at those beautiful brown eyes and i was in love...

She is always happy to see me...whether i've been gone five minutes or five hours...
She Keeps me company when i am lonely...
She consoles me when I am sad...
She looks after me when i am sick...
She helps me to keep in shape by motivating me to take to the trails every chance i get...
She knows sign language as well as english so my brother can communicate with her...
She sleeps in my bed with me...and warms me when it is cold...
She loves me unconditionally...
She doesn't judge...
She lends a willing ear and never reveals my secrets...

She is my best friend...

Do you have any pets...

Tell me...what do they mean to you...

I rescue animals with monotonous regularity. At present I have a dog which was rescued from a circus and is adoring, faithful and follows me around like a child. I also have a cat which was hit by a car; I nursed it back to health and ensured that its broken pelvis was set properly and that it can live and hunt as it should; he ignores me totally unless it's time to eat, but I can live with that too.

we have ducks. rowens. which is a domestic french mallard. (i think) they look just like a mallard, but are bred for their breast meat, so they are genetically too heavy to fly. they just hang out in the yard, eat slugs, weeds, and then kill the moss and fertilize the lawn at the same time.

I have an Australian Red Heeler. He is quite a companion. When my wife died two years ago, he was a Godsend to me, to help me maintain some kind of sanity in my life. After being married for 26 years, I was going off the deep end when she died. I knew I could find a good friend to lift me up when I came home from work.

My current wife has a Black Lab/Sheltie mix. It has the shape and color of a Black Lab, but is small and light like the Sheltie. Good thing for being light, lol, when he bounces around crazily he does to any damage to us and the furniture. The two dogs get along famously, and is what my dog needed. He has another dog to chase and play with.

I have an 11 year old Husky/lab mix. I've had her since she was 1 month old. We've been all over the US and at least half of Canada together. She's the best. I work for myself, so I bring her to work w/ me everyday. You wouldn't know she was 11, she acts like she's 5 still.

I had a dog..for 15years..died back in May. I can relate to everything you say about your dog, they are the best company. I miss her like i can't describe..still expect her to come to the door when i get in from work..tail wagging, yawning as she crosses the floor pleased to see me..they really are a friend for life.

I don't like animals unless they are either working or in the wild. U asked for comments re pets - OK my best pet is my wiper, it does all the things your dog does ... listens to my most private thoughts without being judgemental etc. etc. It's soothing too, especially when it gets wet in the corner of my mouth. It's sympathetic too. But best of all I can get it clean so easily by just popping it into the washing machine on a cool cycle and it's back in action in no time at all. It does not need feeding and, no, I did not rescue it from the streets. It depends on me absolutely, it has no legs you see, poor thing! Ahhhhhhh.

Jolly handy in bed if I'm micturating.

Regards DrabJuggler

My dog is everything to me. Its just like you said, no matter what mood you are in, they are always there for you and happy to see you. His top lip curls up when I walk through the door, I think that its how he smiles. My best friend.

Years ago I bought a pet rock, his name is Roy. Low maintenence, low food bills, rarely makes noise. He isn't completely house broken though. Every now and then, when I am late, I find sand on the carpet.

talldarkavg1: hahahahahhah

I've got 2 cats... one about 8 yrs old, Tasha, avg. 8 pounds, sweetest thing... very ladylike. won't scratch or bite me even if i hurt her, but beats the cr** out of the neighbor kitties. she's an in and out door cat. just returned after 2 weeks gone. apparently her 'territory' is that big now! sheesh.

and one demonic kitten (hence the nick). she's just over 1 yr, probably 10 lbs, fat. sweet sometimes. beats the cr** out of Tasha. My family named her Sassy B*tch because... well, she is! I tried desperately to think of a better name, but it fits her too well. She's fun though, and will play fetch for hours on end.

Tasha was found living under a rose bush at my former home, and i took her in. She actually is waiting at the door when i come home, or if she's outside she (usually!) comes running to be waiting beside my car when i get out. Sassy i got as a baby, and she's still working on her redeeming qualities. i think the best thing of having my cats is that... when i start getting too caught up in the chaos of life, they make me stop and play a while.

That was the perfect way to put it...when i start getting too caught up in the chaos of life, they make me stop and play a while...that is exactly what my dog is for me...thanks for that...

thats the best feeling isn't it...when your pet missed you so much that they just can't contain their joy at seeing you...mine was so excited to see me one time that she peed on my leg...i guess she had a really full bladder...

thats kinda sweet and sad all at once...thanks for the story...

I have Shih Tzu, several of them. Four are home with me, another will be back with me in October and her two newly born little boys may be coming back here too. I raise this lovely breed, breeding sparingly for improvement and show, and I rescue as well. Have a rescue in house now that is so awesome. He goes to his new forever home next week. This week I also have two adult dogs I placed earlier this year; they are vacationing at Chateau Tzu until their new parents return from their holiday. Never a dull moment here...
