girly biker chick?

strange title huh? yeah, but like i was thinkin about my relationship with my motorcycle. I love my bike, and generaly would hop on my bike alot quicker then jump in the car (which isnt much bigger then my bike ** giggles **). the other day i was riding and as i transition back into bein me i kinda blur some gender lines so that both sides (in closet and out) kinda meet inbetween.. then i did somethin i often refuse to do, since my stand on gender is that we define it too much and give too many roles to each without those problems it would be easier to either exist in predetermined roles even if wrong or to accept those who have a mismatched gender:sex ratio. but anyway i started to think... "riding a motorcycle isnt exactly girly"...

I totaly cracked myself up with that since my mother is a biker and it's always been one of her social protests i guess you could call it. she always liked being the chick with her own bike not haveing to get on the back of someone elses and stuff...

on top of that, i started to think about this chick that worked for one of my customers at my last job... she rode a kaw. but she was very feminine...

then i put 2 and 2 together and if i wasnt in public i woulda prolly slaped myself for those thoughts... how can i be so caught up in social definitions! sometimes i get so caught up in my own issues with gender and gender roles that i just let myself forget how wrong some of the worlds definitions are!

anyway thought i would use that as somethin to talk about since it just came to mind again...

and, i just thought i would point out, heels hold onto the pegs better then flats

btw, that pic is not my bike, but it's the same kind

my sister is the most intrepid scooter rider there is -- seriously you should see the dirt tracks she rides her bajaj on (she lives up a steep hill on a farm) ... my husband and i bought it for her a few years back when she lived in the city, but LOL! it has become her trademark ...! biker chicks are cool! (i am terrified tho, so i prefer someone else to hang onto )

yeah... I only got the chance to be on the back of a bike once when i was little, and it was the neighbor across the street... as an overly cautious scared of a hand full of things in excess (as opposed to scared of everything just a lil bit) this man was either one of those guys insisting on "scareing the man outta me" or was thinkin i would have fun if he pushed his own limits as far as acceleration goes... as a result the idea of bein on someone elses bike on the back totaly terrifies me and im more comfortable at the handle bars

never been on the back of a bike since that 1 time btw...

At times very difficult to separate the two genders and remember which one I am. Way too many years being straight does that too ya. I still remember the first time I was supposed to talk with someone on the phone as Jackie. Since for over 30 years ‘he’ was the only one who ever talked on the phone, I couldn’t keep ‘him’ from doing the talking. Never heard back from the other party either. That happened shortly after I came back and now I’m me at all times, well except for work.
