How long do I have to wait to dance?

OK. I feel cheated. I found a website that advertised a formal singles dance.

I was easily the youngest person there, probably by around ten years, possibly more. The website said that the dance is supposed to be formal. I was the only on there wearing a suit. Most of them were wearing semi-casual. I waisted the evening watching older people trying to do East Coast Swing to disco music.

I guess I really don't care what they were wearing, or how they were dancing, or how old they were. I am just disappointed and frustrated with the whole experience. People pretty much kept to their little groups. I was out of place and pretty much ignored. I was hoping to meet some new friends, or at least dance a bit. I was clearly not not accepted. A few people did sit at chairs from my table... after draggin them off to another table. Didn't even ask if they were taken or anything.

I am still in a strange town where I do not know anybody. We do not realize how important our friends are until they are missing. Right now I am really missing my friends back in Washington state. Hopefully, Tuesday will be better.

Tuesday was not better.
The Dance venue I was planning on going to apparently has not been happening. They had not bothered to update the website. I have tried looking up a variety of different kinds of dancing in this area. I have come up with nothing useful. I love to dance and I cannot find a decent dance venue here. For that matter, I am having trouble finding ways to meet people here at all. I am beginning to think that I would have been better off staying in washington state. What kind of a place does not have dancing?!?
I find myself feeling like an outsider in a small town. I don't even know where to start. What do people my age do here for fun? Are there any social activities for people my age?

The nearest Metro area?
Green bay is the nearest city and it has a population of about 100K people. Spokane was hardly a metropolitan area, and it had about twice that many people, Not counting the city of Spokane Valley which separated a year or two ago. I am afraid I have moved to an area of small towns. For a true metropolitan area I would have to drive a long number of hours.

I happen to like the area.. you make it sound sooo ho hum..

I have a lot of fun... you just need to know where to go..

Single Dances.. are 'mostly' for the older crowds to socialize.. Try Mainstreet Appleton at night.. (early night is ten pm)The younger crowds are there - Downtown GB - Washington Street Area or around the campus's are a lot of fun.. Around the stadium during Packer Season is always a Party..

I prefer quiet local attractions.. like the gardens.. parks.. beaches.. myself..

I think the biggest thing is that I miss my friends. I want to be back in Spokane where my friends are.
