December 2015 update:
Well folks things are not going good for me. I did my PET scan in November. Thanksgiving morning I read my report and to my disbelief, "THE CANCER" has returned. Another lymph node and something in my trapezius muscle, in the same exact spot as my previous surgery. I don't know how much more I can take getting bad news, living the way I'm living is not living. I walk on egg shells, drive slow, breathe shallow, watching every step and everything I do to make sure I'm still alive. That's not living. I wake up each and every morning, go to sleep at night, and every minute of every day, I can't escape from this nightmare. People tell you to be positive... REALLY! I have fucking cancer, how can you be positive???
My surgery is scheduled for December 14th. I want to thank all you peeps for your messages and I'm sorry I haven't been able to write back.
Happy Holidays to all.
September 2015 update:
In June, I did 2 rounds of interferon and it almost killed me. I was supposed to do that every Thursday for 5 years lmao. We're going to try GM-CSF after the fight I have with my insurance company to approve it. There is no "chemotherapy" per se for melanoma like there is for other cancers. It pretty much sucks to know you have this crap in your lymph nodes and not knowing if it's going anywhere else, and that there is no medicine to stop it or cure it. I'm waiting on a drug called Ipilimumab to be approved for stage 3 after surgery patients like myself. They are saying this drug might stop the growth of new tumors. Thanks to everyone again for your well wishes.
May 9th Update:
On Thursday I went and met with the radiation director and then my oncologist. They both agree that I need surgery again in the same area to remove more of the margins, and then I can start chemo. My surgeon believes I should have radiation and then chemo. I see my surgeon on Tuesday and hopefully he gets on board with the other 2 doctors. If he doesn't and he has the final say, I will be doing radiation and then chemo.
I want to personally thank each and everyone of you who have sent me messages of support. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart.
April 16th update:
Had surgery to remove the mass on my upper back/neck area in which the pathology report confirmed it was stage 3 melanoma now in my lymph node. Met with the doctors and 1 of them wants me to have surgery again because the margin wasn't clear, and the surgeon wants me to have radiation and then chemo.
In 2012, I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, had surgery, they removed and tested a lymph node that was negative. Recently, a lump began forming in my upper back/neck area and I had a PET/CT scan a couple weeks ago. My melanoma has returned and I'll need surgery again and chemo treatments. My oncologist mentioned Interferon, but I think I'll know more after the surgery and their findings.
As you can imagine, I'm devastated by this. All that I ask from you is that you keep me in your prayers.
