Besides, you're confused. While supposedly there was a Peeping Tom, but I've never heard of Peeking Tom. Peeking is not the same thing as peeping.

A sneaky look at something is a peek. You might peek at someone if you're shy or you don't want them to catch you looking. well peep is a derivative of peek and in some cases it has the same meaning ..its from the Scottish language and Northern England dialect meaning spelled keek which means to peek or peep.
