Unusual food combinations

Seeing my kids and my nieces the other day got me to thinking about unusual (strange?) food combinations people eat.

My daughters and their friends used to come home from school and fix some fried Cheerios. Yep, you heard that right! Melt some butter in a frying pan, add Cheerios, and salt.

When I was a kid we used to eat peanut butter and Karo syrup. Recipe - big scoop of peanut butter in a bowl, pour on Karo syrup, stir to mix. Enjoy!

Peanut butter and pickles (sweet, although some swear by dill). My mother likes peanut butter and tomato, and peanut butter and onion sandwiches.

Fried baloney and mustard.

My wife likes baloney, mustard, and potato chip sandwiches.

What about you and your family and friends?

Vegemite tomato and cheese make sure the cheese is in the middle or it goes really URGH!

My son when he was very young liked fresh chocolate milk follwed by a pickle juice chaser.

Me, a peanut butter, cheese, and chipped ham sandwich. For the extra messy experience it can be treated as a grilled cheese.

Any chilled fruit soup with a healthy layer of crushed pepper, ground chipolte pepper, &/or fresh cracked black pepper.

A quiche made with stilton cheese, a Christmas day snack until the standing rib roast is ready to serve.

Just a few. Thanks.>>>itsallfun1957

No, no, Nancy - light Karo syrup! But you may be the only other person I know of who ate it.

Vegemite, wyvernrose? Must be one of those "furren" things.

Katey, Mom used to do the peanut butter and banana thing, but no mayo. Guy I used to work with, though, said hot dogs with sauerkraut and mayo was good. I haven't got around to trying it yet.

Nothing like a little pickle juice, is there itsallfun. How about grilled cheese, tomato, and pickle sandwiches?

At our last Boy Scout trip we fried a Turkey, that was different, suprisingly moist and tastey.

Deep fried turkey has been all the rage here for 2-3 years and, although I haven't had it yet, I've heard it's very good.

My grandfather introduced me to this taste treat sensation, sardines with avacado on saltine crackers. YUM

I've eaten sardines and avocados, but never together; guess I'll have to give it a try sometime.

My odd combination food is poutine. I think it's a Canadian thing.

Anyway, the dish consists of fresh cut French fries covered with a layer of cheese curds and smothered in gravy.

It sounds disgusting and looks even worse, but it is delicious. I'm glad I don't have regular access to it. LOL

Ooooh, DC, I feel my gut growing, my arteries closing up! Sounds like a once or twice a year "treat".

Yes, you did turn out fine, Lyn! Maybe everybody should eat it!
