Ahh...Spring

Spring is here. I was out on the rail trail here getting some exercise yesterday and some wildflowers were out - periwinkles and coltsfoot. Looks like I won't get to do my "wildflowers and waterfalls hike" this spring. The creek next to the trail was high and swift, reminding me that the whitewater season is beginning. It's still a little cold for me - I prefer to go in the summer, when you don't have to wear a lot of clothes and you can swim. I haven't been whitewater rafting in 2 or 3 years. Maybe this summer. Anyone interested?

Haven't tried that yet but I almost did last year when crossing the New River in W. Virginia. Maybe this year when I cross again I will plan for it.

The New River gorge (lower New) is a good run. I've done it many times with my daughter. We've used several different outfitters. If you want any info, just let me know. It's a fun thing to do with your children. I think it would also be fun to rent a cabin for a weekend and do it with a group of swingers.

Hey, Sexy, I didn't figure spring would start that early there. But I'm sure you have lots of great hiking there. I was out yesterday and there were also some bleuets and daisies. I am going to miss my hike this spring - there's a nice 10-12 mile hike up Glade Creek, a tributary of the New River. But maybe I can get up in the mountains later and there might still be some around 4000' in the Dolly Sods area. Or later in June, I can catch the rhododendron, azalea, and mountain laurel bloom. One of these days maybe I'll find that soulmate to join me. What's blooming there now?

Vegas, you'll have a lot of fun. What river are you rafting? When do things start blooming there?
