my bed

my bed is like a lover to me. it is right over there, i can see it from here. it is an eastern king, and it cost a small fortune. it's solid oak, stained cherry, with beautiful carving and rails on the sides. it's fairly high, and i have to make a small leap to get on it. there is a very thick quilted pad/cover on the mattress. i buy the best sheets i can afford for it and it has two down comforters, one covered by an antique battenburg lace duvet. my many pillows are all down. it's simply an exquisite piece of furniture.

when i'm feeling anxious i know that when i get underneath the covers of my bed and curl up i can feel instantly better... add my antique cat (20 years old!) purring away next to me and not even xanax could top that. it's a big bed and i have it all to myself these days and when i am lucky enough to be involved with someone they admire my bed also. it is enticing and usually they don't want to leave its comforting embrace.

i'm rhapsodizing about my bed today because i don't have a lover and my bed is the closest thing to one, something i fantasize about during mundane days like this!

Heyyou...your description of your bed makes my oak floatation mattress look silly....ahh, but if they could talk...

Bella wrote a blog the other day like that: things she did in lieu of a man...the way she changed her life because she has man for the time being. Pretty interesting.

I'm glad you're feeling better....
